I’m writing this because I’m concerned about half-truths & obvious lies from those who claimed to know much about Canada & Australia.
These misleading facts deceive fellow S’poreans from considering migration as an alternative to a better life. It is mischievious & deceitful discouraging S’poreans in such manner. My questions to those “experts” are:
A. Have you ever lived in Australia/Canada for a number of years there?
B. Are you aware of the diverse and geographical differences there?
The facts are:
1. Both countries are geographically large & diverse but relatively underpopulated.
2. These countries have huge resources; agricultural/pastoral lands; forestry; mineral wealth; oil & gas resources & relatively unpolluted.
In Canada, they have Hydro-electric power – cleanest power in the world besides Geothermal. Australia have huge uranium deposits. For the next 100 years, they will still be around. LKY already expressed concerns whether S’pore will be around in 100 years [sic].
3. To compare directly with S’pore – you have compare Australian & Canadian capital cities since S’pore is a city state without a hinterland. There is no obvious comparison to Australia or Canada – both have States/Territories or Provinces & each is diverse & different from one another.

CANADA:
1. HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT FOR MIGRANTS.
> Virtually all migrants start from the bottom. They don’t have any local employment history for employers to reference nor relevant experience. You can’t expect a seamless transition – it’s absurd!2. INCREASED CRIME RATES.
> Depends on the capital city & where you stay. It is a rather silly generalization.AUSTRALIA:
1. FOOD & TRANSPORT 30% HIGHER
> Really! Minimum wage is about A$20/hr. If a plate of noodles costs $12, you only work 36 minutes to eat. The Honda Jazz is A$18k on roads, fuel is about A$1.50/ltr. Public transport costs are higher but not 30% higher! Transfer are free within time limits. Some cities have free city buses.2. INCREASED CRIME RATES.
> Again, silly generalization. Which city? Where?3. RAPES & MURDERS.
> Really! Another silly generalization. Murders are mostly bikie-gang related & as for rapes – Australia is not India! Nuff said!4. RACIST TAUNTS AGAINST ASIANS.
> Occasional! Sticks & stones may break my bones but taunts? C’mon, be a man – stand up for your rights!5. HIGH INCOME TAX (BOTH AUSTRALIA & CANADA)
> Misunderstood concept! High income taxes fund generous social welfare programmes. It is like paying insurance premiums for future problems like unemployment, sickness or disability. You’ll get it back!@Lol commented:
1. CANADA-A 3RD WORLD STATE?
> Really! A 3rd world state that gives “milk” money to parents to raise kids & old age pensions.2. CANADA INFERIOR TO USA
> Uhm, 10 yrs ago US$1.00:C$1.40. Now, US$1.00:C$1.03. Care to explain?@DML commented:

> Really! Been to Perth, friend? For 10 years, Perth’s been a boom town. You’d didn’t know that? OMG!BB
