Dear fellow folks of Singapore,
In Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s view, National Day is probably better defined as the 48th year of separation from Malaysia, and in 2011 he was reportedly suggesting that Singapore was not yet a nation. Two years later, Singapore may not be a nation but still very much a migrant state. We do not really have a proper civilization called Singaporean, we do not have a real proper culture, and among many others we have a state with a recent survey that yielded that about 50% of Singaporeans may like to quit Singapore for elsewhere. And this is when we have a standing army probably much larger than Malaysia where probably nearly half of the army have the desire of quitting Singapore under BG and PM Lee, and the PA has been supporting PAP governance for over about 5 decades to deliver such a result.
And before National Day 2013, a survey also indicates that only about 20% of Singaporeans trust our beloved and highly paid leaders after its brilliant performance so claimed by themselves.
This is not trying to be sarcastic, it shows that Mr Lee Kuan Yew is right, Singapore is likely not a nation after 48 years of celebrating National Day. Hence, the job of national building will fall on someone else.
I am not inclined to attack the PAP. My National Day speech will focus on some practical aspects of the way forward.
A better future comes only with a social remake, an economic remake and other changes, hence a political remake is imminent. All these point to one thing: Nation Building.
One people, one nation and one Singapore can only be possible with one wise leadership.
Currently, Singapore may be very stuck. But we do have the possibility to address all the issues which will give us a horrible future of economic disasters and political chaos. That is because Singapore emerged from political chaos and economic tensions and with a great leadership we can rise again. The younger generations may not understand what those born before the 70s experienced. The price of peace is ignorance… Ignorance that such a disunited society is heading towards chaos, and ignorance that chaos is not joke. And that chaos can only be calmed down by wise leadership.
Singapore remains vulnerable from the beginning to now, and will be more vulnerable as the world is moving into global economical and political conflicts.
In the short future to 2016, I wish the PM all the best, and urge the government to seriously revitalize itself, to remake itself and to focus on ‘pragmatism’ confronting the realities of the current instead of justifying itself based on the good old times. I sincerely would not say PAP has done badly, because relatively speaking, I very much doubt that the current alternative parties could have done better. But it is clearly and severely not enough.
I look forward to the leaders to provide the needed leadership and to care for and inspire the people, and to lead Singapore into a really better future. If the past was a mistake, let not the future repeats it.
As commoners, be it richer or poor, be it more educated or lesser, be it male or female, we need to observe our differences, we need to communicate, that while we claim to love Singapore, love is about accepting differences and communicate to provide the understanding to help one and another. Our future is common because Singapore is tiny and packed, the rise of crimes and horrible leaders will affect all. Nobody in the right mind wants to rob and assassinate and to commit suicide if given a choice. While we may protest and hope to hold the government responsible, you as Singaporean do share the responsibility of thinking properly before you judge, or considering properly before you propose, and to understand that the society is not merely the responsibility of a few leaders.
Only then will the choice for a good future be available for all.
If you love Singapore, if you are angry with the government, while you can change the government with your votes, you can only change the future to a better one if you can open your eyes and your arms to embrace the right leadership and be part of the movement. If you are rich, then help the poor, if you are healthy then help the handicaps, if you are wise then enlighten the confused, if you are eager to help the world you are eager to embrace the fact that this world is not homogeneous, and you must embrace differences and the beauty of creations. You will keep your communication open, you will give yourselves a chance to explore before a judgement is made, and you will grow mature and wise, then you will indeed be able to love and break the current horrible social norms and be part of a constructive force for a better future.
We have challenges ahead. Challenges are fun.
This is the 48th National Day. As Singaporeans, you should have seen enough.
The message from Scope to Singaporeans is, do not play God when you are not. There is no shame admitting wrong-doings and there is no wisdom in conforming blindly to norms. If you think you are right, you will be able to justify, and you shalt make a stand. Support not blindly the blind, support in the understanding of what you are supporting. Beyond the excess of wealth, learn to derive happiness and live meaningfully by contributing to a better society, and enjoy life beyond materialism and avoid being victims of success.
While I know these words will be useless to skunks and morons… We are all born innocent, many grow up to be assholes by forces from the environment or due to weak confused souls. I cannot wish everyone will be innocent, I can only demand myself to stay in the light. It is because of this, such will be the motivation and direction of whatever I do. And in whatever I do, no matter how small it may be is a step towards nation building.
If I am small, hence I will be calling for like-minded folks to gather and make nation building possible.
While I send my best wishes to the PM and his government to move forward… after so many years, a back-up plan is obviously needed if PAP still cannot deliver, relying on others to provide the future may be rather far-fetched than if we do it ourselves.
The poor needs help, talents need their positions to glow, real problems need real problem solvers, an entire island of have-nots and troublemakers need leadership, and a state needs a strong force to stand tall…
Do not just fight and condemn, if you shalt condemn others would you have gone the extra miles to help them? Unless you expect outsiders to love you, we have only we.
I shalt not be here to fight but to help, because if I fight I am fighting my fellow men.
What about you?
If Singaporeans want a clear directive, I will give you one…
If you are not happy, voice out and be heard.
If you are very happy, make me happy as well.
“No one owes you a living” is a fallacy supported by fools because “No one is an island”. If you don’t support friends, you will create enemies; if you don’t donate, you will get robbed. If this is not Heaven, it’d be Hell.
I won’t wish you Happy National Day because we are not yet a nation. I don’t want to support and celebrate a wayang when I am more interested in making a nation possible.
How about you?
