When the 6.9m Population White Paper was passed by the PAP govt in parliament within a few days of tabling, many were still sleeping. I reckon more will have to lose their jobs (management & senior engineers positions, financial & IT&T sector especially) and tertiary places before they start reading alternative news not affiliated to PAP or mainstream media — hopefully before the next general election.
The historical “Say No to 6.9m” Hong Lim Park protest served to remind all local Singaporeans 2 very important facts:
(1) Locals are having their jobs taken by foreigners.
(2) Locals are becoming the minority (and will be discriminated further to lose more jobs to foreigners) in their own country and losing their identity. An identity locals know very well but PAP elites try hard to eradicate.
The hard truth is the PAP govt under the leadership of PM Lee Hsien Loong is adamant to continue with their foreigner influx policy for 2 very important facts:
(1) Import 30,000 PRs, 25,000 new citizens and 100,000 foreign labors yearly (and all figures will be collapsed so that it’s never clear) all the way while locals either have their jobs replaced or displaced. This is of course disguised as addressing Singapore’s low total fertility rate and sustaining the economy.
(2) With a pro-foreigner policy tailored to buy new citizen’s vote as fixed deposit, PAP wants to entrench their grip on power besides curbing free flow of information “not right” for the public.
