Opposition parties should try their best to attract and win the votes for the new citizens

Dear Opposition Parties,

We true blue Singaporeans do not like the open door policy. We disagree with the Population White Paper that contains no details. There is anger and resentment towards the products of misguided policies – the foreigners and the new citizens.

We should not let emotions override our good nature. And more importantly with elections coming up, we must not let our emotions jeopardise the vote count for true Singaporean sentiments. We need the votes of the new citizens to win.

Opposition parties must stop their hate and talk against new citizens. They are now Singaporeans, they are one of us. Even if they were meant as “tools” to shore up votes for the other party, we have to understand that these votes can and must be converted to the true Singaporean cause. Engage the new citizens. Make them feel wanted and part of Singapore. Give them the conversation and honesty that the other party will not give them. Take away the sugar coating. Give them the humbleness, the rich history, passion and true vision for Singapore. They came here looking for a better life. We are voting for a better life. We have a common cause. By converting their votes, the other party will know that importing more foreigners means making more enemies. Not only will they create more opposition among Singaporeans, but their vote bank is now being converted to be against them! By doing this, they will stop or even reduce this importing foreigner rubbish strategy!
