Dear The Real Singapore,
I refer to the article: "HEATED CLASH BETWEEN #RETURNOURCPF AND EVENT FEATURING PAP MP TEO SER LUCK"
To me it was clearly an administrative cock-up to have the two events approved for the same day at HLP. Nparks does not want to admit their mistake.
They next best thing is to ask Hui and her group to move as it will be suicidal careerwise to ask the other party to move or postpone.
But instead of trying to intimidate Hui with plain clothes thuggish looking men and to order her around, it would have been better public relations for NParks officer to just simply admit a mistake has been made and just ask Hui for her co-operation.
Then Hui would look really unreasonable if she does not co-operate. This incidence shows how intimidation seems to be the instinctive method of choice for the authorities against locals"
Even though it is really scary for the special needs kids to see people shouting and chanting off their stage, you can't really blame the people at the ReturnOurCPF protest either because Hong Lim Park is the only place that they can protest and if they can't protest there or their event gets cancelled at the last minute where can they go?
Meanwhile the PAP grassroots leaders can always hold their event in a community centre or even in the YMCA building itself.
So yeah, I think really the problem lies with the Nparks for not organizing everything properly and making matter worse by making the ReturnOurCPF protest people angry by asking them to cancel their event last minute.
