Familiarity breeds contempt.
The planned Philippines Independence Day celebration is only the latest in an ongoing spat between Singaporeans and Pinoys. However, it is potentially the most serious as too many Singaporeans now view this as a serious violation of our national sovereignty.
As expected, the organisers have refused to change the venue to either their embassy compound or a hotel function hall or even the huge Expo. To them, it is a matter of principle. To Singaporeans, it smacks of insensitivity at best and arrogance at its worst.
Hence, I have concluded that Singaporeans and Pinoys should go their separate ways. Let's have different lives separated by the beautiful South China Sea. Nature has put a buffer between us. Let's respect it. Pinoys have 7000 islands to behold, from Luzon down to the Abu Sayuff south.
We only have Singapore. All of 716 square kilometres.
We have been ridiculed countless times by Pinoys in Singapore over our tiny land area. Having said that, we shall not dwell on it.
As surely as the Sun will rise from the east, we will be threatened with economic collapse once the Pinoys leave. Thank you for your concern.
200 nations are represented in the UN. Money don't talk nowadays. It shouts. Many Third World migrants will be waiting at our doorsteps to replace you.
This message is meant for work pass holders. For Pinoys holding Permanent Residency or dual Citizenship, I'll advocate Civilian National Service for all male Pinoys. It is a privilege to serve NS. Our government says so.
After all the shitstorm, it boils down to this question. Are you willing to go your own separate way?
