Social problems from massive migration: China story

At a recent parliamentary session, Grace Fu confirmed the number of new citizens had gone up again! A whopping 29% and she strongly hinted “we need more”. Look at her porky face, you know, it is similar to Botak Tharman, they are counting their GDP bonuses and multi-millions. But lets not forget, this is top down decision from PM and his dad, they are the power man, everyone must kowtow and say yes.

Let me share with you my CHINA EXPERIENCE and then relate to what is happening in Singapore. China has a population of 1.2 billion people and most people are congregated around major cities like Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou et cetera. I worked in China for two years and lived in Beijing and travel to major cities. The cities are over crowded, every step you take, you have to look left and right, there is always someone or a car behind you. When you open taxi door, there is always bound to be someone cycling pass or rushing through. Due to overcrowding, people and cars are all jammed packed, you find people every where, you have to get used to it. The morning trains in Beijing is a nightmare, you have to queue to get inside the station! And you probably have to wait 4 or more trains in order to squeeze yourself through the door. People are pushing and shouting and screaming, and before you get out, people push into the train, a lot of people miss their exits due to this. I ate with Chinese people, they eat and the spit on the floor or the food they just chewed. The toilets in the local restaurants you dont want to use, they smell like shit or urine. Couple with children always allow their kids to pee on the floor, even the toilet is a few seconds walk. When I was having buffet, these people were so greedy, they will push their way and block all the paths to food. If you put on food on the table, high time when you back at your chair, someone is sitting there!

After the 改革开放,it is all economy driven. And with sky high property prices and living standard, almost most of the Chinese people only one ambition, to make money or find a rich husband. 90% of the Chinese people I met, no matter how nice or what they say, their underlying is always connected to $$$. Most Chinese can talk really sweet and well, everyone is 哥们, but don’t take it seriously, no money no talk. In their culture, they are brought up to take short cut, least efforts maximum gain. So if they can run with your money now and not help you, they will. They see no point in investing long term, this is why China has the world most copycats, they copy everything and they don’t care. In China, if you have money or power, you are king, you can change many things, you can buy your way out. The whole Chinese system is rotten, from the low rank to the high rank, its normal to 送礼和请客 or you know what, no need to say anymore. Most Chinese cannot do real work, they always want to do less but get maximum return, so our government theory that these people are hard striving is warp logic, I have been here for years. They are pretentious, very political, cunning and wayang kings, Singaporeans are more professional and honest, that is why we lose out. Honesty you will never find in China, remember this critical if you want to work with them. In China, the lesson I learn, always 防,trust no one, background check, always be cautious, never lose your cautiousness, this is why the Chinese people always say Singaporeans are stupid, this is because we trust people easily and we believe whatever people say.

I used to know a PRC girl brought in by our government, on scholarship. We dated two years, very demure, polite and nice. My parents are ok with her, as she always appeared to say the right things and behave very well. One day after 2 years, I got a shock, she said she wanted a break up and she fell for a white guy. No sign nothing, I was overwhelmed, we were very happy together and there wasn’t any sign of problem or issue. But after my two years in China, I finally know the answer. As you can see, Chinese is brought up with money root, they link everything to money. The reason to why she left me is that she thinks the white guy can offer her more in terms of financial possibilities. Relationship in China is commercial deal, the first meeting, the girls will ask if you own a house and car and how much you make a month. Do not be alarmed, they take this as standard upfront questions, and not wasting time with you if you don’t fit the requirements This is China, no matter how sweet and demure, it is always back to commercial, more realistic than Singapore girls. China girls are more open and risk taking, if they think you are the one, they can sleep with you up-front without asking any commitment, no other nationalities would do this right. This is the shock I came while in China.

To cut the story short, back in Singapore, we imported more than a million of Chinese and a lot of third world migrants. We are already starting to see the congestion on trains, places, shopping and on the roads. Social problems and tensions are brewing, you can see PRCs allowing their children to pee into bottle or on the pavement, this is their culture, but we are shocked? The social problems and tension will continue to escalate, these problems are never thought of, our PM and ministers don’t live in China or never live there, they will never understand the problems and they are living in their bigger and bigger ivory towers due to their imports.

The social tensions about having too many people in a tiny island, people will just turn selfish and greedy, we will end up like China where greed and selfish are roots. In order to survive, we will do anything, even unethical things. And we had so many China companies doing projects in Singapore, you really think they follow Singapore rules? The Chinese way of business is to buy and buy, money talks.

There are many these migrant scholars taking over management positions. And many of these migrants integrating with their former culture and habits. We will have increasing social problems and tension. Just imagine, if everyone of us pee into the bottle in the public or just use money to decide a relationship, and everything is tied to money, what will the new Singapore be? Global city really? I seriously doubt so. Isn’t it scary?

Our leaders are greedy and they want power and more money but at what and whose expense? Have they seriously think of the repercussions of having too many third world people in Singapore and also making this island so congested, the type of social impact and problems related?

What do you think?

I think your good old Singapore has been destroyed. I wish all our future generation good luck. Thanks to PAP.

Best regards, Old Generation.
