A TRS reader saw piles for construction being lowered down from the rooftop of his HDB in Yishun, despite the fact that there were cars packed all around the area.
She feels that residents should be alerted to construction work that might cause damage to their vehicles.
Said the TRS reader:
"On Friday (May 3), at Blk 243 Yishun Ring Road (CP-Y17), the activities of a contractor caught my attention when they attempted to lower piles from the rooftop down to the ground level.
"The piles were lifted right above the cars that were packed around, endangering car owners.
"The Town Council was notified at around 1pm but no actions were taken to stop the contractor from performing such dangerous activities.
"When contacted again, the Town Council gave my number directly to the contractor.
"I am totally disappointed by the Town Council in giving out my number to the contractor as they did not protect the confidentiality of informant.
"Worse till, when contractor called me up, he mentioned that he cannot possibly start work only when they vacate the car park and if anything happens to the cars, their company has insurance to cover the damage.
"I'm totally disgusted by the behaviour of this contractor.
"I feel that they ought to inform residents about the construction work and should residents still want to park their vehicles in that area, then it would be at their own risk."
