I refer to SAFRA Holds Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital Pinoy Only X'Mas Party. Link.
A Pinoy netizen said, "We wouldnt want to settle here, its just that, we get better job opportunities here. We have families to feed. We choose to serve you just to feed our family. Maybe yes, we dont belong here. But our job is here. Companies hire us cos they want to."
Previously, I posted a topic "Why Are There So Many Pinoy Staff Working in Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital"
I have worked in Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital before and here is my opinion.
Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital is indeed a Pinoy hospital.
I'm not talking about nurses which there is a shortage. Even ordinary jobs such as lab technicians, pharmacist technicians that can be staffed by Singaporeans are mainly staffed by Pinoys. Only jobs such as Finance, HR and Logistics are staffed by Singaporeans.
This is because before GE2011, Manpower Minister Gan Kim Yong rubber-stamped and approved Pinoys applications to become PRs so Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital was able to be built rather quickly with little Manpower worries.
Even their Group CEO Mr Liak is a Malaysian who is pro foreigner. During my orientation talk with him, he openly said that Singapore should open more doors to foreigners and stop being so anti-foreigner.
But then again, It is wrong to focus our target on foreigners.
When I was working in Khoo Teck Phuat Hospital, many Pinoys love to volunteer to work midnight shifts and weekends to collect more allowances to send back homes.
As a Singaporean who cannot draw out his CPF until age 65, I wasn't really motivated or keen to do that. Obviously, I wasn't really in my boss's favourite apple of his eye. Naturally I was ostracised.
I began to resent my Pinoys presence as I feel that they are spoiling the market.
My accent also started to change when I realised my tongue keeps curling upwards when I pronounced the "rrrr"sss just like Pinoys.
Pinoys are still very nice people to get along with. But then, salaries also got depressed. When other hospitals can offer $3K plus for a degree level position, KTPH starting salaries were only around mid $2000 plus. Running a hospital is not cheap and many patients always owe hospitals a lot of money.
But yet, if you look at the overall picture, it is only human nature that one will follow where the big money is. I don't blame Pinoys for eyeing our jobs and stealing our lunches.
However, we tend to channel our hatred towards Pinoys because we see them every day - on the buses, at work, on trains, and everywhere.
If only we have the power to transform each Pinoy to a PAP Minister, I believe that this anger, frustration and emotions will bode well in voting out PAP in GE2016.
Our living standards are falling apart - we are going downhill with lower salaries, higher stress and long working hours.
Don't blame foreigners for spoiling our market. Blame PAP for letting them in.
