If you want to be treated like a Singaporean then be one and not remain a foreigner.
You choose to be a foreigner and yet want Singaporeans to treat you like a Singaporean? Your mind is clouded. You owe your allegiance to your country of birth and want to retire there. This already separates you from locals born and bred here. Btw, even if you become a new instant citizen, you are still not equivalent to a local because you don’t inherit birth rights (that’s why you can escape from mandatory NS), it takes years to localize, and you can always have an escape route back to your country of birth. Heard of NS for locals, jobs for foreigners?
You are here in SG to offer service which your employer finds useful, maybe cheaper, and are being paid for it. You are not doing goodwill or doing a charitable act. If you got a better job back home, you wouldn’t be here. Whatever taxes, goodwill, charity, economic output there is, they are all secondary. It’s something a decent guest will return to its host for giving him the opportunity to come, stay and work to make money. Singapore is for Singaporeans first; not a charitable organization. It’s in fact an authoritarian commercial organisation under the PAP Govt — don’t you know that? Locals and foreigners that are not rich, all suffer from this regime.
Singapore should only welcome foreign investors to create jobs for us as well as foreign talents and manual labor in small numbers (like 20-30% of total population) to complement our workforce. Not the foreigner influx policy (40-60% of total population) that the PAP Govt only knows how to grow GDP with, damaging Singaporeans’ livelihood in jobs, wages, cost of living, education places, infrastructure strain etc.
And why should you need to own a house in Singapore and not rent as part of your living expenses to help Singaporean rental owners? HDB is a home, not an investment. Rental is a good way to earn passive income for needy S’porean families. HDB asset enhancement is a ponzi scheme run by the PAP Govt. The majority of HDB dwellers can only afford one flat. Those changing locations either sell high, buy high; or buy low, sell low.
And who doesn’t know fake Singaporeans like you (PRs) are gaming the HDB public housing system meant for Singaporeans? Buying HDB to recoup rental plus profit later in this oligopolistic HDB market with supply controlled by HDB, withdrawing all your CPF money and retiring rich back home? Meanwhile, the average Singaporean starting a family and unable to migrate, is trapped in this vicious cycle — thanks to the PAP Govt’s pro-foreigner policy and cosmetic Singaporean-first subsidy scheme after jacking up prices.
