Apparently, HDB launched the new Bidadari estate with a big bang and currently held a 2 weeks exhibition at HDB Hub Atrium, with mock-up models, nice ornamental plants, a stage, and exhibition panels and boards. [Link]
Sometimes, we wonder why there is even a need to market HDB flats in the first place.
Common sense will tell us that when it comes to BTO selection, they are always over-subscribed. There has never been any BTO selection which is a failure.
Even the sale of balance flats will definitely have buyers who aren't too picky and will just buy from the balance.
The recently launched 2 room BTO flats in Sengkang for singles was over-subscribed by 20 times. And that didn't even need any grand exhibition to publicise it.
In land scarce Singapore, be glad that you are selected to be in the BTO flat selection.
Many of my friends also said that when it comes to BTO selection, they aren't very picky and will probably choose lower level stories if they have no choice.
Even when I said that Bidadari Estate was once a cemetery, they didn't really care and some even said that Neil Road, Jurong West used to be cemetaries for the Chinese too and they aren't even bothered.
They don't even care what features the flats are equipped with but will just buy the flat first and worry over the installed features they have later.
They are only picky when it comes to location as some may choose to stay in the West due to their working locations etc.
HDB should conserve our money in these publicity campaigns and re-distribute it back to the taxpayers in the form of rebates.
