Time to Take Back HDB in 2016

HDB Singapore
Ever since my Confessions went viral, HDB rebutted me on HDB Speaks.

Their main contention is that I am angry and with an axe to grind and has breached confidentiality clauses.

To be objective, there are always some good points and bad points in any organisation. No organisation is really perfect. Either there would be bad bosses, stressful work conditions, lack of challenges or too much office politics or long travelling hours and long working hours or unstable income.

I am not angry or with an axe to grind. Just disappointment that I was unable to change things from within. Change only comes from external pressure.

A PAP candidate Dr Koh Poh Khoon said to SPH that he wants to be the "change from within" if he should be elected to Parliament. Change doesn't come from within. Change comes from external factors and with people like us.

Recently, an article on HDB Construction Costs received many likes on Facebook.

Would HDB come out and blast the netizen and said that he/she has breached confidentiality?

Legitimate confidentiality such as private information that has sort of personal identifying information in it and drug history of the patient. These are legitimate secrets - for example, your records with your doctor; that's a legitimate secret. Most of us would agree with this.

So technicalities, there is no breach of confidentiality if someone comes forward about HDB Construction Costs.

Even when the recent Peter Lim, Ng Boon Gay trial where it exposed many confidential procurement processes, no legal counsel has even dared to say it is confidential as a defence because the Judge will probably over-rule it anyway.

But when it's about taxpayers and OUR MONEY, coming forward clearly outweighs any confidentiality clauses.

There seems to be so much negative feedback against HDB that most Singaporeans, including me, need to believe that it is time that we Singaporeans need to take back HDB and hold them accountable.

Others before me had also spilled secrets about working in HDB. Some secrets which I am not even aware of!

Some netizens have uploaded their full application process, dispute with HDB and even their salary scales on Glassdoor.com

"HDB is one of the most "civil service" organization around, probably only CPF more power than them.
There is no HR department in HDB, their HR is just a renamed Administration & Manpower department. The department is >90% admin ladies who are there to pass time."
"Dead water department filled with people with no career aspiration at all. Recently someone high up tried to push for modernization and many old birds not happy, but then honestly when the whole department consist of family ladies who are content to take it easy until retirement, what can anyone do?
It’s not like they can fire them… You give them low ratings, increments & bonus they also bochap.
Even if they succeed to transform the department, at most it will still be on par as stat board, definitely in terms of pace, creativity and dynamic is still far cry from private companies."

Remember, we are paying the salaries of HDB organisation and not the other way around. It is time we take back HDB in GE 2016.
