One of my friends in public sector said that when it comes to GE and National Day rally speeches, his organisation will be very busy and having sleepless nights trying to compile all the statistics and data and facts for our PM Lee. This goes to show that PM Lee is heavily backed by many people in the public sector.
My other friend painted a very different, more difficult picture for Mr Low if he should one day be our Prime Minister.
He said that there is likely to be many obstacles for Mr Low. Even if Mr Low were our Prime Minister, he may see many of the former loyalists to PM Lee with-holding secrets and information. Perhaps they may also try to mix truth and some others to fix Mr Low and make Mr Low look bad in the public's eye.
Previously, my article on Low Thia Khiang received many likes: http://therealsingapore.com/content/low-thia-khiang-our-singapores-true-optimus-prime-and-unsung-hero
My friend felt that it would be another deja vu to Mr Ong Teng Cheong when he was the elected President.
Ong tried to uncover many state assets but in the end, PM Goh decided that go ahead with the sale of POSB to DBS without informing Mr Ong. Mr Ong only was informed of this when he read in the papers. Click on http://edition.cnn.com/ASIANOW/asiaweek/magazine/2000/0310/nat.singapore.ongiv.html
How does one change things when you have so many odds against you?
What's more, if Low Thia Khiang met all these obstacles and they did make him look bad, he might not even get the chance to start to fix things for Singapore before the public lost faith in him.
Perhaps a solution is to make drastic changes that will destroy some of the previous framework in order to make way for a new way of doing things. This is a concept well known in economics and is called "Creative Destruction".
Creative destruction, sometimes known as Schumpeter's gale, is a term in economics which has since the 1950s become most readily identified with the Austrian American economist Joseph Schumpeter,[1] who adapted it from the work of Karl Marx and popularized it as a theory of economic innovation and the business cycle.
Mr Low, if you are reading this, we will embrace creative destruction if you wish to change the top management of former PAP allies.
