A 36-year-old man who allegedly tucked his cellphone into the laces of his shoe to capture "upskirt'' video recordings of more than 200 women was charged on Wednesday (Aug 14).
According to a report from The Straits Times, Be Keng Hoon, a technical officer, is said to have committed 264 charges of intruding into the privacy of women between October 2011 and Aug 14, 2012.
Except for the first charge which says that the offence occurred at ION shopping mall on Aug 14, 2012, the locations and identities of the women in the rest of the charges are unknown.
The skinny and bespectacled man appeared in court on Wednesday, asking for the judge to allow him to leave jurisdiction.
He told the court he was to go to the United States for work from Thursday until October.
But later, he told the prosecution that he would not be leaving the country.
If convicted, Be faces a maximum penalty of a year's jail and fine on each charge.
The case will be mentioned again on 29 August.
