Singapore faces a big stray problem - there are about 5000 - 8000 stray dogs in Singapore, and with a 'no stray; policy, they are relentless persecuted. AVA acts in response to public complaints. These complaints happen everyday, and unforutnately, most of them are falsified, exaggerated and untruthful. These complaints result in the loss of life everyday. 1000 - 1500 dogs are caught and culled per year.
It is a vicious cycle because animal lovers like us actively sterlise the dogs, but the dogs are soon caught and culled, and new dogs which are not sterilised and moreferal take their place. I am trying to stop this, and coordinate a program to do a large scale sterilisation of our stray dogs, and solve the problem once and for all.
I recently made a video highlighting this problem. It showcases the dogs in Bukit Brown Cemetery, the latest to be complained about as a cyclist was chased and fell down (fell down only, not bitten) and in response he called newspapers and AVA and demanded for the 20 dogs there to be culled.
Did you know of this problem that is happening in our backyard? Because of intolerant people, thousands of lives are lost each year.
