I was born during the baby boomers era. I served my National Service & completed my reservists.
Thereafter I worked and toiled to help build S'pore and rewarded to become a manager in an MNC enjoying a salary of $6/month at age 32.
Tragically 20 years ago, the gates of hell were opened and hundreds of thousands of cheap FTs came in. I was replaced by a PRC management trainee whom I trained and he cost only $2K.
For nearly two years I could not find a job. Even a waitering job were snatched up by experienced FT waiters. As a single parent with 2 schooling children I was devastated. Finally by His grace got a low wage $1.7k/month job to see thru the family's survival & both my children are in uni.
Just when I thought I could look forward to claim my CPF next year, the fucking bomb dropped and meager CPF can only be withdrawn at age 65
To author, so did I and my sons contribute to S'pore in NS as well as economy?
But what did the government did to my family? There are hundreds of thousands worst off victims like me.
