The new temporary Yishun bus interchange has just opened and despite it being just a temporary structure while the integrated transport hub is developed below NorthPoint Shopping Mall, commuters have already found things to complain about.
The interchange came into operation on Saturday (March 14) and beside the expected complaints about the confusion of the slightly altered routes of buses around the area, commuters have also complained about the size of the interchange.
Commuters complained to journalists there that they were tired after walking from one end of the interchange to the other while others noted that it was quite a long distance from the MRT station and it was troublesome.
The temporary interchange is located across the road from NorthPoint mall so commuters need to cross an extra road to get there.
The new interchange is also 27,000 sq ft, considerably bigger than the 20,000 sq ft interchange previously.
Nevertheless, SMRT is confident that the current layout is already the best they can do as they had already invested a lot of time and effort conducting feedback sessions with commuters before they completed construction.
