Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam announced that the government will not be extending the Productivity and Innovation Credit (PIC) Bonus scheme after this year because it said that it "has been successful in spreading the culture of productivity amongst small and medium enterprises (SMEs)".
Productivity fell by 2% in 2011, it fell by 2.6% in 2012 and was zero in 2013 before it fell again by 0.8% last year.
So in which year was the PIC successful again?
Prime minister Lee Hsien Loong said that the government would increase productivity by 3% every year so that wages would increase by 3% every year. But productivity has not grown at all over the last 4 years.
How then can Singaporeans improve our lives?
At this point, Singaporeans have to decide if we want to be PAP apologists or if we want a better Singapore.
If the PAP had wanted to better the lives of Singaporeans, it would do so 20 years ago.
Instead, real wages have remained stagnant for the past 20 years while prices have escalated to the highest levels in the world.
Do we want a better Singapore? I know that is what I want and I will vote for the opposition to be the government.
