I refer to the article: "SG50 WASTES $1.3 MILLION TO BUY 50 ULTRA HIGH-END "SINGLE-USE" PIANOS FOR CONCERT"
The Sing50 fund was launched this week and we think the funds are being misused! Is this a new contract scandal???
Here's why. In the main article it states that:
"A new fund has been created to preserve and promote Singapore's musical heritage with an initial fund of $348,000."
BUT if you read further in the article it also states that:
"The first initiative by the fund will be to buy 50 Steinway-designed Lang Lang pianos, at $26,000 each, for use at the Sing50 concert on Aug 7, which is organised by The Straits Times and The Business Times."
Any secondary school student can tell you that 26,000*50 = 1,300,000 (1.3 MILLION) !!!!!!!
If the initial funds given were 348,000, how can they spend 1.3 million instantly on special pianos?!?! Zhun bo!!!!
Many prominent musicians in Singapore are questioning the use of funds among themselves.
The funds are also not being used to pay musicians for the Sing50 concert on Aug 7.
With possibly up to two weeks worth of rehearsals, of which 4 dates are 12 hour rehearsals, there might be no possibility of remuneration for them!
Singapore govt has shown time and again they don't care about musicians or singaporeans lives, they want people to be cheap fast and good but when there is new funds, they spend it on SUPER EXPENSIVE pianos!!!
Are these Steinway-designed Lang Lang pianos the new Brompton Bicycles in Singapore???
