Unionised workers’ wages increased 4.1%
According to the Straits Times news article “NTUC warns wages will stagnate if firms do not become more productive” (Jan 16) – “Wages of workers in unionised firms saw a 4.1 per cent increase in 2014, down from a 4.63 per cent rise the previous year.
First time ever – got unionised workers?
The figures are based on preliminary estimates as of last month.” – We must really be becoming very desperate to “wayang” to make Singaporeans think that the labour statistics are not as bad as they are.
The latest MOM statistics are so bad that for the first time in history we are now getting unionised workers’ wage statistics.
Isn’t this kind of meaningless as there are so much more non-unionised workers compared to unionised workers.
Real wage increase -0.6%
In contrast to the “unionised workers’” wage statistics – the latest MOM statistics are that – median income, including employer Central Provident Fund contributions, rose 1.8 per cent – the slowest pace since 2009. Actually the real income growth excluding employer CPF was -0.6 per cent.
Poly graduates real starting pay dropped -25%
Also, the starting salary for Poly graduates actually decreased by 11 per cent last year from $2,250 to $2,000 – even tough our 150th ranked Press Freedom media was caught mis-reporting by saying that the median salary was “similar to last year”.
Poly graduates real starting salaries have decreased by -25% in the last 7 years
How many get 3 months bonus?
As to the remarks that unionised workers will also receive an average of three months’ bonus for 2014, compared to 3.16 months the year before – what percentage of all workers get three months’ bonus?
