According to US-based Internet specialist, Akamai Technologies, Singapore has the 10th fastest broadband speeds in the world.
In Singapore, there is an average connection speed of 12.2Mbps as of the third quarter of 2014, pushing it up another 10 spots on the rankings to 10th spot.
Compared to the previous quarter, the average broadband speeds increased 18% as the previous average connection speed was only 10.4Mbps.
The top spot is held by South Korea where residents enjoy an average broadband speed of 25.3Mbps with Hong Kong a far 2nd place at 16.3Mbps.
Japan was in third place at 15Mbps with Switzerland in 4th at 14.5Mbps.
These four countries have consistently been in the top four spots for internet surfing speed.
Akamai has constantly tracked global user connection speeds by handling trillions of requests for content daily.
They have a huge network of computers world-wide and most of the world’s web content goes through their computers.
