Let’s us all imagine this scenario:
Our ministers making millions of dollars in salaries, Singaporeans average salary is SGD 10,000 dollars per month, our pioneer citizen has a sufficient nest for his retirement , our disabled has a substantial monthly contribution from the state , our population is only 4,5 million, with only 30% of foreigners in the country where mainly blue collar workers with a minimum salary and highly qualified expats with special skills that will contribute to the prosperity of Singapore. Our education system that render our children to enjoy going to school to learn . Our health system is world class and is affordable to everyone. There is sufficient of living and green space for every Singaporean. Does this not sound ideal?
Now, let’s bring us back to reality. Our ministers still making millions of dollars in salaries. Singaporeans average salary is not SGD10,000 dollars but is much lesser(I do not have the exact numbers) and many are trying to make ends meet because of the rising cost . Our pioneer citizen does not have a sufficient nest for his retirement, our disabled is marginalised. Our population is not 4.5 million but is much more that is weighing on to our infrastructure, and there are some crazy persons that truly think that Singapore can accommodate 10 millions and hoping to compare Singapore with Chong Qi city instead of Melbourne.
Our foreigners are not 30% but much more( again I do not have the exact numbers but with gut feeling it seems 50% or even more) that is creating a lot of social disharmony in our country. Our education system is rendering our children to study but not to learn. Our health system is world class but is not affordable to everyone. I am not sure about living space as everywhere is very crowded and hopefully the green space is still being saved despite the number of people around.
The point is how could our ministers still justify their exorbitant salaries? Isn’t it about time that they have to be realistic about their remuneration since they are not meeting our citizen’s needs.
