Retiree Explains Why he Wants to Vote Against PAP Now

Personally I think this will be a common path for many Singaporeans. I have just retired but dare not think about the future as my collection after the “lock up” period is barely enough to take care of my son’s education. He cannot get a place in NUS so I need to send him overseas. What to do? Every parent wants to support their children to give them the best chance in life.

So, now looking for job but it is very difficult as the industry I am in is more or less gone (manufacturing) – did consider driving taxi but my road sense is very poor : maybe need to buy a GPS to help.

Also considering to move to Malaysia or Batam too. Cannot afford to live in Singapore. It is only for the rich and connected.

I cannot say whether I blame the government for this – maybe partially, but in the end, I know that things could be better.

For example, if they do not allow those bad (really bad) Indian and Pinoy into Singapore (backbiters, liars and incompetent but able to spin stories) we would still be able to make a living. Mind you, we are not asking for handouts, but for a chance to make a decent living – but these really bad foreigners (I generally have respect for those domestic maids, construction workers etc. as I know they work quite hard and most of them don’t cost any trouble – but the white collar ones are really ev*l. Singaporeans are no fight for them because we are not used to this kind of politics.

I am disappointed that we have deaf frogs in the government, but this could cost them dearly if they still refuse to listen. Harping on the wrong issue and trying to justify themselves instead of trying to solve the problem.

I used to vote for the candidate (rather than the party) but looks like I need to switch my thinking – any person is better than the Robots/Yes-Men in Pro Alien Party today. To me PAP has done a decent job until a few years ago, but that is no guarantee that they will continue to do the job in future.

Cracks are already happening and yet they still fail to see it – taking time to fix the opposition instead of fixing the problem. And collecting indecent salaries in the process.

Sigh!!
