My Final Voice and Fight for Singapore

The purpose of this post is to hopefully restore some faith in those who share the same belief as me about life in Singapore, to assure our tourists who have bad experiences (as recently as the Vietnamese man who has been made a mockery off in Sim Lim Square) that the rest of Singaporeans here are nothing like those animals, and lastly to wake up the rest of us who needs to learn to shut up and listen.

So there's a few things that has been happening on my social media lately (to be honest I only use Facebook) that has caught my attention. So there's the infamous one about Miss Han Hui Hui during the CPF protest that happened a few good weeks ago. This will be one of the boldest move that I have made and I figured I should give a voice and stand up for my friends whenever they get the wrong image from the public.

For those who have been rentlessly putting those who have been protesting to shame, give it a thought. It's pretty fast, 300miliseconds to register a thought and what I am asking most of you reading here today is probably just 5 minutes of your time. Your poor judgement does hurt feelings. Sure, Han Hui Hui won't be affected by your bullying and heartless words but her friends that care, does.

Put your phones down, let that ego fade off for just maybe 5minutes, take a breather and look around. Isn't it a surprise that nobody reflects on their life around here? I made a point to do it as frequently as I can especially when I travel on my own. Long walks and music just to escape from the hordes of information media has passed onto us, brainwashing us bit by bit, whether we choose to block it or not. The information will penetrate through us eventually.

With that said, let me clear some rumors up. I am not here against my good friend nor am I here to support(partly yes). Unlike me, she still believes that there is still hope in a better and united Singapore.

Han Hui Hui is a Singaporean. I knew her since I was in Primary One back in 1997. She's one of the longest friends I ever had. Think about it, only Singaporeans are allowed to speak at the Speaker's Corner in Hong Lim Park. Go to the website HERE. Yes, I used to speak out at Hong Lim Park once, because my experience in life could wake up most of us who are more privileged in life and if it could make a few nice changes, why not? Worth a shot even if I did get negative feedbacks because I guess my English and flow of speech wasn't amazing at all, but that was my first public speech, even Abraham Lincoln, Adolf Hitler, Winston Churchill, Marilyn Monroe and others had stuttering problems as a child, before starting out as a public speaker/performer.

Han Hui Hui has grown from a fragile, who bullied constantly online from netizens who doesn't have the balls to be reasonable pertaining why they treated her in that sense, to a strong person whom persevered day by day. The words you hurl today won't ever affect her anymore. She even protects the people around her especially her family members including myself from being seen with her fearing that reporters might use our pictures and making false statements out of thin air. It hurts when all you wanted was to have lunch with your childhood friend but because of this, it becomes complicated.

To those accusing her of getting donation money for her own benefits, you're WRONG. Please take note that getting donation is illegal and will be apprehended if that is the case. The money is the people's contribution to cover the cost of events (This information is taken from her direct.) So what happens now? Are we not allowed to even speak out in the only place in Singapore that we are legally allowed to speak at? Tell me where else should we fight for what we believe in when in other parts of the island is illegal to arrange a peaceful protest.

I learned in secondary school that Hong Lim Park was also a trap. So yes we are not allowed to have a riot or protest anywhere in Singapore. But if international press would ask, of course they will say, yes, we have a place to do it all. However, that place is watched like a hawk and Internal Security Department (physically, online they are called IB) will keep an eye on your every move and words. It's like we are partially in Communism.

The freedom that we were encouraged to have, was a lie.

To those accusing her of Anti-PAP, this is wrong. She is not anti-PAP. But she wishes for a government that is fair, just and honest and is pragmatic of their belief of practicing transparency to its people. If the current political party practices what it believes in, she won't be standing out there fighting for it.

Be glad that she is fighting for something that I have gave up 7 years ago. Unlike her, I have no more intention of staying to fight for this country to call home. I am working so hard to get out of here for so many reasons, like education, home, space and work-life balance and just being happy surrounded by people who actually take pride into their jobs.

I am very sure that most of you have not attended a protest before. I was in Berlin and am lucky to witness and be part of a protest, as well as learn on how to arrange one.

This was one thing I did not get to share with at my first speech because I was really nervous. I visited the Reichtag with my bestfriend and he told me so many things about it that made me love their way of doing things. I share with you some of the photos that I got for a clearer picture.

First of all, the dome itself is designed to represent Transparency.

See those glass? Underneath them is the parliament meeting. We can also hear what they are discussing from the speakers that surrounds the glass, which I admit is something Singapore would never dare to do.

First banner : Do you want war and you to let it manipulate from high finance politician and mass medians? Decide for yourself. (Pardon me for the grammar as my German is just basic)
Second banner : In times of global cheating, its revolutinary to tell the truth. (Food for thought)
Third banner : For free press

The sign said : I am a slave, and so are you.

Of course, sometimes there are cons that lead to things that government itself could not take control over but endure it anyway.

My bestfriend (a Berliner) told me that, like Hong Lim Park, every protest needs to be arranged, otherwise it will be considered illegal. For Germany's case, the protestors have to inform the public service, in this situation, the police, that they are organizing a protest/demonstration. The police will therefore arrange for them to block the roads and arrange for barricades if necessary. I find this really polite as traffic will be predicted and won't make a problem for other citizens in their daily routine. Even if they are protesting against the police, the police still have to help.

About my friend Han Hui Hui being a public nuisance, she is merely fighting for the rights we have as Singaporeans. She thought about her parents, her brothers and herself. 3 generations that are currently suffering from the new CPF policies.

I must say, I am not hoping for my CPF to be all returned but in the future, I do not want to end up like the old people in the streets having to work till the age of 70 even 80. My late mother, who had breast cancer and before we found out she had 2 weeks left to live, was a cleaner and endured working even when she was at the last stage of cancer at that time.

I am pretty sure if she could say something right now, she wouldn't want this future for her children as well. This is some food for thought for all of you.

Do not get me wrong, I love Singapore and most of my family & friends are here. However, seeing a future here with me having no degree (because of mum's passing and past complicated family toubles, I chose to be independent and work and pay rent for my own room) it is already hard. Sure you might tell me going to other countries is probably as hard, but its not as restricting and expensive (when it comes to owning a transport or a home) and plenty of space. Singapore, you have done well in raising me to be a decent human being but I can't survive a political party that wants to win so much, refuse to accept criticism and ignoring our complaints.

I have traveled to diferent countries through the years and also went to immigration seminars so I have been taught and exposed to information first hand from them, if you think you should not believe a girl who does not have a degree. What I do not have in terms of qualifications, I can make up for my life experiences.

Dearest ministers, we Singaporeans complain because we care. As I have learned from my jobs, the most dangerous customers/clients/consumers are the ones who are silent and leave without a reason, as I will be because this will be my last fight for myself and for the people that feels the same.
