Dear TRS and Readers,
Before you start reading, I recommend you read the whole article and not stop half way because the point will be lost if you do.
I would like to complain about something that I have been experiencing. Being a Singapore citizen, I have always cherished our culture and traditions of each and every race and religion. However, recently, I have to complain about a certain race of people in Singapore: Indians.
I find Indians don't even belong in Singapore. Singapore has always been a traditionally Malay country, with Chinese coming here for about the past 800 years or so and Eurasians since about 200 years ago, but I don't even understand why Indians belong here! They don't deserve to be part of Singapore! Now, before you start calling me racist, I will explain why I feel Indians should not be part of Singapore.
Firstly, I find Indians are inherently disgusting. Living next to a few Indian neighbours, I have to endure the smell of their cooking and their horrible hygiene. I don't mind if they like to cook food they like, but when I smell whatever they cook for dinner, I just feel like puke! Also, their house smells like a garbage dump! Whenever, I walk past their house, it feels like I'm walking past a dustbin of rotting food! Who would want to live next to people who you don't even understand basic hygiene and house-keeping?
Secondly, I am just revolted by their culture and tradition. The noise they create while praying and holding cultural rituals is just deafening! Not to mention, during Indian festivals, they cook even more of the disgusting and smelly food I already have to endure. Once again, I don't have anything against Indian culture per se, but when it affects me and family in such a way, I just can't stand it! If they want to practise such religion, why evencome to Singapore in the first place? They should stay in India where their culture is more normal and more accepted by others!
Thirdly, I find Indians are the most law-breaking in Singapore. It only takes one look at the newspapers or some online news site to see the latest news about crimes, and I find these are often commited by Indians. Sure the big scandals like the City Harvest Church incident are commited by Chinese, but more common, smaller crimes such as stealing, robbing and assaulting are commited mostly by Indians!
Fourth, Indians I find are disrespectful to others. Their forefathers initially came to Singapore to find work and earn a living, but now they act so cocky in Singapore just because they have been accepted as a race of Singapore and their language is one of Singapore's official languages. Now, especially the richer Indians, all boast about their good life and high pay while the rest of us have to suffer. How can we allow them to take our jobs especially since Singaporeans are having trouble finding jobs and earning a stable income.
Fifth, Singapore has been flourishing in terms of economy for the past few decades, and now we are facing the problem of overpopulation, with not enough space to live, food to eat and even jobs to take. From a practical point of view, if all Indians were removed from Singapore, Singaporeans could enjoy more jobs, better standards of living and everything in Singapore need not be so expensive. The reason why things like COE and ERP were created in the first place was because of overcrowding in the first place, so by removing Indians from Singapore, the rest of us Singaporeans can like happier lives.
The only thing stopping us from doing this is the fact that the PAP is allowing these Indians to be part of Singapore and the moment anyone complains about them, they are labelled as "racist" and the PAP immediately rushes to defend them. This is obviously because many Indians in Singapore work for a low pay and the PAP isn't willing to lose such cheap labour in Singapore. Why should the PAP continue to defend them when they steal our jobs, homes and money? You might say "They're Singaporeans and are a part of our culture!" but think about it, for the past few centuries Singapore has lived without the Indian culture and we have been averagely peaceful and happy and only recently when there was a greater influx of Indians who became Singaporeans did overpopulation and all its effects crop up.
Having read up to this part of the article now, you'll be probably be thinking about how racist I, the author of this article am. And you're right. This is probably one of the most racist articles ever, written by someone who obviously has a deep-rooted hatred for Indians in Singapore. You'd probably say something like "Look here, just because one or even a few Indians in Singapore have done something wrong does not necessarily mean that all Indians are bad; I have many Indian friends who are nice people." And you'd be right to say that. I too have many Indian friends that I like. You may also say, "It's not the Indians that caused things like overpopulation in Singapore. It was inevitable. Singapore is a small country, and even with land reclamation, there would come a point where eventually there would be too many people in Singapore". And you'd be right. You might even say "It's not the Indians' fault that they have a different culture from us, they came to Singapore to work initially, and eventually loved Singapore as a country and decided to stay. It's not their fault that they have jobs, earn money or have families, they're human beings like us. You can't blame them for having a different culture from us." All of that is true.
Having said all this, I can't understand why Singaporeans are still behaving this way to not just Indians, but Chinese, Malays, Indians, Eurasians, Filipinos, Bangladeshis or anyone of any race for that matter. Yes, I'm talking about foreigners. If I change every single word of "Indian" to "foreigners" in what I had written, this would probably be a popular article on a site like The Real Singapore. In fact, most articles I see online from Singaporean blogs and facebook pages have identical content to what I just wrote. That's the flaw of so many Singaporeans. When I say "Singaporean Chinese are bad because they burn paper and choke everyone in the neighbourhood to death", I get flamed on Stomp and Facebook for being racist. When I say "Singaporean Malays are so dumb because their weddings are so noisy and useless" I get flamed on Stomp and Facebook and get fired from my job. When I say "Look at that stupid Indian who is sitting on that reserve seat even though an old lady is standing next to her. Are all Indians like that?" I once again get flamed. When I say "Look at that stupid Bangaldeshi who spat on the road. Stupid foreign worker" I get support from thousands of Singaporeans who say "Stupid foreigners!". All of these are based on real-life cases that have happened in Singapore before.
I hope people can reflect on this and learn to see the flaws in their own logic and way of treating others rather than continuously blaming foreigners and the PAP for having brought foreigners into Singapore in the first place. Yes, it is inevitable that Singapore would face overopopulation one day. Yes, our forefathers were foreigners in the past. Yes, our forefathers did cause trouble in Singapore in the past. Just look at the racial riots of the 1950s-1960s. Those weren't caused by "foreigners". But eventually we managed to bond together as a country, or at least most of us. At that time, people never expected Indians, Malays, Chinese and Eurasians could like together in harmony. But we did. Now, no one thinks we can live in harmony with Filipinos and Bangladeshis. The question is, are we willing to?
