IN AUGUST, my car was damaged in a hit-and-run accident while parked at an HDB carpark.
I made a police report, and a month later, I called back to check on the status. I was told that the town council had informed the police that the closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the carpark were not working during that period.
While HDB residents support the installation of more CCTV cameras ("Watchful eyes in every block by end-2016"; Oct 22), what is more important is that the devices must work.
When I raised this issue to the town council, it said the cameras were run by the police. When I checked with the police, I was told that the town council had clarified that the cameras were managed by an external vendor. The last I heard, the vendor told the police to check with the HDB.
Why are there so many agencies "in charge"? Shouldn't the responsibility be clearer?
