I refer to the article: "WORLD RENOWNED FEMINIST: AWARE SINGAPORE IS WRONG TO EXCLUDE MEN"
Dana Lam, the president of AWARE who was moderating the question and answer session suggested that AWARE was “an organisation set up by women to correct an imbalance that exists in society," she argued. "And until that problem is resolved, it's too early to think of us involving men."
What kind of cock answer is this? I would say that evidence suggests that many of the "imbalance" between genders in Singapore has already been "balanced", when you have to scrape the bottom of the barrel for a justifiable cause such as banning army songs, criticizing Science Centre Chiefs and spending more time promoting LGBT rights rather than women's suffrage.
I am not saying the above actions are wrong but obviously women have reached a level of equality in Singapore where it seems that the leading Women's right organization is no longer aware of what they can do to help women's groups. Apart from the abuse hotline, there hasn't been much significant impact from AWARE these days on women's issues.
I even dare say that women in Singapore have more rights than men. Like rights to security without mandatory conscription, rights to nearly equal salary by having a 2 year head start in career, rights to child custody and rights to alimony.
I agree with this feminist. There are many important feminist issues out there, like the rape culture in India, oppressed women in Middle East and developing countries but in Singapore, women's issues just feels more like first world problems.
Many women in Singapore are actually totally fine being treated as a female, by wanting men to pay for their meals and open doors for them and them being a 'gentlemen' is already showing that women are embracing their identity as a women (a gender/role that is different from male) and there is nothing wrong with that!
Stop fighting for female supremacy!
