We refer to the article “9 in 10 civil servants reaching retirement age offered re-employment: DPM Teo” (Channel NewsAsia, Oct 8).
9 in 10 offered re-employment?
It states that “Minister in charge of the civil service, Teo Chee Hean, explained in parliament on Wednesday that about 9 in 10 civil servants are offered re-employment after they reach the retirement age.
He explained that the current policy in the civil service is to offer reemployment to all officers who are medically fit and meet the performance criteria.
The government is leading the way in offering re-employment in workers’ existing jobs with their previous salaries as much as possible.”
How many offered same pay?
- How many of the 9 in 10 offered re-employment were offered the same salary and terms?
How many accepted the offer?
As to “Mr Teo said that that they do already hire some workers with disabilities but admitted that they could still do more”
No statistics?
- How many persons with disabilities are employed in the civil service?
By the way, how many ex-offenders, non-citizens are employed in the civil service?
In the last 12 months, how many Singaporeans were given priority and hired under the “Singaporeans First” policy?
Without any statistics – how can the civil service convince others to lead by example?
