Dear Calvin Cheng, I would say that you have written a very nice and convincing article, but do you know that there are many fundamental flaws in the whole article?
Do you still remember: Orchard road flooding, Bus Strikes, SLA Lamborghini, NKF Saga, NEA Dengue Fever, MRT Failure, Little India Riot, etc? Can you tell me which are the breads and which are the butters?
Do you still remember the response that People get from the above? People cannot expect flood-free Singapore! Singaporeans has higher crime rate! Well, if you want a refresher of all the 'bread-and-butter', take a look at the case study that I have crafted in my book.
You mentioned that "no matter how many new trains the Government buys, … they will not be satisfied". Of course, I agreed with you wholeheartedly and you are absolutely right because what People want is NOT more trains, People just want the reliability of the MRT system! You can buy millions of trains but yet still not solve the reliability of the MRT system. Got it?
Of course, if you can paste the PAP Thunder Logo on your forehead to increase the reliability of the MRT system, by all means do so; People will be happy, not with how you look with the logo on your forehead, but with the improvement of the reliability of the MRT system. Got it?
I am sure that you have at least the intelligence to know the difference, please don't prove me wrong.
When People are worried about not having money to fund a university degree, the advice People get was degrees are not important. On the other hand, we have Sex Blogger granted scholarship; we have Mr 'Dog' granted scholarship. Are these bread and butter or maybe croissant to you?
Of course, we have to welcome the new addition to our Foreign Talent pool - Mr Yang Yin. Can't you see that the problem we have today is not Xenophobia but Xenomania instead?
You mentioned that people are only happy when PAP loses.
Well, may I ask you a question: Which "PAP" are you talking about? If you are talking about the team 50 years ago, yes, I agreed that they were good and should continue to lead but they have either retired or passed away. But if you are talking about the team today, don't you realise that if they don't change their mindset yet still win, that is exactly what every Singaporean should worry about! Got it?
Do you know that the PAP today has nothing to do with the PAP 50 years ago? Do you know that Singapore is where it is today not because of PAP? Take a look at this message for a start (other chapters are listed at the end of this post).
We are not here against any party including PAP, we are all here to uphold Mr Lee Kuan Yew's reputation. How would historians and scholars think of him if this is the quality of ministers that he claimed was good? I am sure you don't want to smear Mr Lee Kuan Yew's reputation, do you?
I fully respect your views and I sincerely hope that you will not take it personally as I am not here to discredit anybody, I am here to uphold what Mr Lee Kuan Yew preaches.
"... everybody is free to put up his ideas, and if you put up foolish ideas, it is our duty to demolish that idea by argument before that idea takes hold in the people's mind."
Mr Calvin Cheng, you see, I am not here to make things ugly for people, but in the spirit of Mr Lee Kuan Yew, I have to response, and in the process, more ugly stuff will surface. I don't want that, and I am sure you also do not. So please, CTL. Don't make People TL, can?
My dear Singaporeans, I have many things to say to you and only a book can achieve that. After 6 months of work, the book is now out and available in Amazon.com. An online version will also be published here. To understand the different versions of the book, click here.
