Bangladeshi construction worker AKM Shafiul Hasan (Shuvo) was sentenced to 14 months in jail for a string of molest cases where he molested young women on the MRT train.
The court heard that every time Shafiul, 26, had a day off, he would spend his time wondering up and down MRT trains looking for young women to molest.
Between April and September this year, Shafiul admitted to molesting three women after being arrested for these three cases, he was released on bail and during that time, he molested a fourth victim.
His first reported offence was on April 3 when he boarded a train at City Hall. He sat next to a 21 year old student and touched her breast.
The girl got up out of her seat and moved to the next cabin before alerting SMRT staff to the incident.
Shafiul again molested another woman about a month later near Admiralty station.
In this case, he had again touched a 23 year old’s breasts but he left the scene before she was able to report him.
On September 1st, he again molested another woman by touching the breasts of a 33 year old.
The woman this time shouted out and one of the other commuters hit the emergency communication button and alerted SMRT staff.
When the train stopped at Khatib, Shafiul was detained.
