Dear TRS,
I am a Singaporean born in Hong Kong and so I have many family members still living there.
I've seen the posts you posted on your page regarding the Hong Kong riot issue. I followed up the issue very closely cos many of my family members are in Hong Kong. My uncle is a police in Hongkong. And I have another relative working in the hospital in Hongkong too.
I would like to share with other Singaporeans, the truth about the protests.
I feel that a lot of social and international media have been covering the ‘good’ about the protests such as that they are pro-democracy and that some protesters are very tidy and calm and neat but the reality is that there is no such thing as a truly “peaceful protest”.
I've been raised in Singapore, I love Singapore. I'm just afraid that Singaporeans will learn from Hongkong and think that protesting and being barbarian can solve any problems. This is not the case.
Here's are some photos, of what really happens in riot places:
Ambulances are unable to pass through all the protesters, so they have to send the patient to hospital by public transport, hk train (mtr).
Police are assaulted, their vehicles damaged and vandalized.
The rest of the photos show the transport system bring interrupted, police cars being vandalised and sat on; one has written "fuck your mother".
And here is a video of student protesters scolding vulgarities and pointing middle finger to a police who are just trying to make an announcement.
The cop is not doing anything because social media (I feel that they're not responsible) says that Hongkong police has too much authority and power and they bully the people:
I really hope the real singapore can be a responsible social media and not like the rest.., to deliver the true message to Singaporeans, I love Singapore.
I wouldn't want the wrong concept to influence Singaporeans and hope our country will remain peaceful and not follow the footpaths of Hongkong.
Democracy will only do good for people with wisdom and high standard.
