Dear The Real Singapore,
I would like to voice out on the recent big "hooha" on the 4th CPF protest carried out on 27 September.
I do not need to explain what happened, but what i want to urge all readers is that: nobody thought hard enough on this issue.
Originial Basis: The CPF protestors made a ruckus, gatecrashing the YMCA stage where most of the particpants were special needs children and the elderly.
Reason: ???
We all know that they made a fool of themselves, throwing insults to MP Teo Ser Luck. In the mainstream media, its was reported that he did not feel "threatened" in any way.
Of course. If you were to be scared off by just a crowd, you naturally do not qualify to be a MP.
Question: Was it a coincidence that the participants for YMCA event held, on the same day as the CPF protest, were comprised of special needs children and the elderly? No.
We can see clearly that the government is trying to appeal for emotions by making use of the less privileged. "Wa, bully old people & children?"
This was staged. We all know that much.
But who took the bait? The answer is: the highly educated public. Many of the members of public said the above nasty comment, but recall their background again! Maybe Diploma holders, maybe degree holders. etc etc. Now the burning question is? How many of the people who attended the CPF protest were of such background? They are mostly uncles, aunties, some adults, a few teenagers. Think about it, when the uncles and aunties, whom i assumed to be not so highly educated, get intimidated by the YMCA, will just stand still and take the hit? Most of them just want their money back. Additionally, they were being thrown with ridiculous insults like "Get a job before you ask for CPF". Like duh? they worked hard enough, obviously even more than the YMCA organizers. This was done on purpose to spark an outrage. I would have been surprised if ANY of you are 40, 50 years old, worked all your life, get thrown with such an insult, and still behave rationally. Do you get my point now?
So where are all the Diploma/Degree holders? At home with the occupation called: "Keyboard warrior". Now, the government knows the power of social media like TRS and they cant censor it, so what do they do? They manipulate it. They made use of our highly educated netizens to spread the word of CPF organisers being "disgusting" and "absurd". They have succeeded. This message is being spread even as i speak.
The government is not doing a good job, but they are not dumb either.
Their goal was to split us, the ordinary citizens, to fight amongst ourselves, and they have succeeded.
Therefore i urge everyone to rethink your opinion before hastily deciding that the people who attended the CPF protest are absurd or had disgusting behaviours.
To those who continue even to do so after reading this article, i have a strong message to send to you.
The participants of the CPF protest have contributed their lives to building the nation. Dont condemn them just because of one irrational action. If you do, it is because you are thinking like an elite. An elite will never understand the suffering of the common people. By following this line of thought, you are no different from the government who cares for nothing but themselves. This is backed by a simple principle. If you commit an evil act to get revenge on an evil person, you have become that very person you have sworn to hate.
