Some problems with renting out flat to 'Foreign Talents'

True Story:

Know of an elderly couple who decided to rent out a room in their 4-room flats for $900 as they needed the money. 2 PRC girls rented the place. Both were working in Singapore on work permit.

Then one evening the elderly man was just trying to be nice to the girls by asking them if they want to eat any fruits as he was cutting some fruits.

The wife then got jealous and that’s when she started fighting with the husband. The husband is not a cheekopeh. He is by nature a nice guy. The husband felt angry because he genuinely thought that he didn’t do anything wrong. The couple relationship deteriorated.

In the end, I blame the government. Because they don’t want to institute a pension scheme for our elderly, they come up with all kinds of schemes as long as the government doesn’t need to pay.

But it’s causing a lot of other social problems.

Be careful renting out flat to PRCs. You may rent to a couple and end up with more than 10 people living in your flat.

PRCs I observed, normally don’t observe the law and your contract terms. Indians professional are slightly better but would not service your aircon no better what terms in the contract and drag payments.

When renting out whole flat to foreigners don’t leave expensive furniture or cooking utensils in the flat. Take everything expensive with you or you end up with these missing, including eating and cooking utensils. Leave in the flat what you can afford to loose.
