Recently, K Shanmugam has made some statements about his own turf and it caused Chief Justice to warn law graduates about lower salaries and more competition. [Link]

One of my friend who is in the IT line got very worked up over this issue. He told me that his own rice bowl is being threatened with cheap foreigners from India who continue to depress his salary and spoils the market by working overtime every day and some even work 7 days a week.

He told me, "Here we have so many problems and PMETs losing job and all K Shanmugam can think off is to make air-headed statements on law profession?"

It is very unsettling that K Shanmugam should take concern on his own turf when there are clearly so many problems plaguing other professions as well.

Most of us know that many PAP's children choose a career in law over others. Dr Vivian Balakrishnan's daughter is a law graduate. So are some PAP MPs such as Hri Kumar and Vikram Nair or Edwin Tong.

Some of us know that these law graduates will take the route of commercial law or corporate work where the big bucks are.

And yet, PAP continues to hesitate with implementing minimum wage, growing our wages or creating quality jobs for Singaporeans. Most of us are sick and tired of having wages that only pay us to survive but doesn't pay enough to give us a good quality of life.

Having more elite PAP MPs from the scholar/ law profession will mean they will do even less for the majority of Singaporeans.

For that, we need MPs who can fully empathise with us. Come GE2016, we need to have people from non elite class to speak up for us.
