Many people, even criminal elements from abroad, have noticed the lack of active policing in a Singapore. This applies to both policing in urban areas, HDB estates and on our roads and expressways.
This is in sharp contrast to Japan where a police presence in the cities is visible and where there’s active policing.
Sometimes you wonder exactly what our police officers are doing.
Take traffic policing for example. Along Ave 5 Ang Mo Kio, the traffic police seem to have discovered a comfortable perch on an overhead bridge from which to catch those exceeding 60 kph with their radar gun.
“Business” must be very lucrative as they are operational as early as 8:30am. The processing of all the speeding offences will probably take a good portion of the officers’ time.
Is that targeted stretch of Ave 5 AMK near the industrial park and flatted factories a dangerous stretch of road that has seen a huge number of accidents to justify the traffic police attention on a frequent basis?
The fact is I’ve lived in the area for the past twenty years, and have yet to see a SINGLE accident.
Is this how SPF wish to been seen? Shuffling papers in the office instead of active policing to ensure the security of all who work and live in the country?
No wonder respect for SPF has gone down.
