PAP TC charges Single Mum with 4 Kids $50 to retrieve wallet dropped into lift shaft

Dear The Real Singapore,

I saw on newspaper about a single mother with 4 children who is struggling with her life to even get enough food for her children.

She said something which makes me really hate the PAP government a lot! She said that her 11 year old daughter had dropped her wallet into the gap between the lift in the HDB block and she requested assistance from the PAP Town Council's Essential Maintenance Service Unit (EMSU) to retrieve the wallet and what happened next really made me very angry.

The Technician asked her to pay $50 in order for him to help retrieve the item from the lift. People drop things like phone and wallet into the lift shaft all the time and how can the PAP Town Council be so heartless in charging Singaporeans $50 even for a small favour to pick up the drop items?

She told that newspaper that $50 could be used to pay for her 1 -month rental to live in the HDB. How can a single mother with 4 children be able to afford to pay $50 just to pick up the lost wallet?

Why is the PAP Town Council so heartless and all they think about is money first.

Would you still vote for the PAP in 2016? Please seriously think twice.

Sincerely,

TRS reader Maggie Lim

Editor's Note: We have forwarded this letter to the relevant town council for clarifications. No response from them so far.
