10 Most Cowardly Civil Servants in Singapore

In 2006, PM Lee once said that he wants to 'buy supporters votes".

If PM Lee is reading this article and wants to 'buy supporters votes', he should know that the only way is give us a govt job and not Pioneer Generation Package or Baby Bonus.

Most of us know that when you are in a job, most of us will behave to what your boss wants and not disobey his orders.

There's a saying, "Every man is afraid of something. That's how you know he will respect you; when he is afraid of losing his rice bowl"

The Workers' Party has tried their best to tell voters that having political competition is good for voters as within civil servants, they are unable to voice out their opinions to PAP for fear of losing their jobs.

Today, we highlight some of the most cowardly civil servants in Singapore because once PAP (the CEO) say 'yes', civil servants cannot say 'no', even though voters (shareholders) say 'no'.

It is hoped that by highlighting these 10 cowards, voters will understand the value of political competition. We, voters, are shareholders in a country and if the CEO and civil servants are not doing their job, we can hold them accountable as well.

10) Tan Yong Soon.

Former MEWR director boasted his riches when he flaunted his wealth by taking a month long holiday to Le Cordon Bleu to learn French cooking during the 2009 Lehman Brothers financial crisis.

When voters fucked him upside down for his lavish lifestyle, he wrote an apology letter to Head of Civil Service Peter Ho but he forgot that he should apologise to his shareholders - the voters. Click on

9) Chng Zhen Zhi

Former A*Star high flyer carried balls to Philip Yeo when Mr Yeo said that males are govt bond-breakers. Ms Chng added insult by saying that males are so wimpy and whiny. Netizens blasted her for saying that and when she tried to clear things up that she was misquoted by SPH, the SPH reporter stood firm on her ground that there was no irregularity.

Ms Chng's cowardly act of backing out and not standing firm deserves a full tongue lashing for being two-faced hypocrite.

8) Cheong Koon Hean

Dr Cheong, HDB CEO, had the audacity to declare smaller flats do not mean lower quality of life. Click on

Most of us know that having smaller flats means a smaller kitchen and having less storage room. In many condominium brochures, all of them like to feature units as big and airy and for Dr Cheong to boldly declare that smaller flats do not mean lower quality of life, that's hands down for a slap to Dr Cheong.

This comes in stark contrast to Minister Khaw's declaration that "HDB flats are not shrinking in size" Click on http://www.teoalida.com/singapore/hdbflatsizes/

And both Minister Khaw and Dr Cheong can get away with this and expect voters to believe this?

If Dr Cheong can apologise, it may be worth salvaging her own reputation but she didn't and it deserves a dishonourable mention for being cowardly.

7)  Yeoh Lam Keong

Ex-Director of GIC, he blasted Singapore PAP for losing its moral compass and that wages are stagnating and public housing prices have remained unaffordable in a candid interview with SPH.

Netizens have lauded him for speaking his mind and at the same time, blasted him for being a coward for not doing so when he was the Director in GIC.

If Yeoh had done something during his time in GIC, it might have turned things around but due to his need to obey PAP, he kept his mouth shut until he left GIC.

6) The CID Officer in Ridzuan Abdullah

Ridzuan Abdullah, security officer of Keith Morton Security Pte Ltd, posted a vulgarity and scolded Lee Hsien Loong's dead mother on his FB during Mother's Day and received a sacking after CID called up his employer.

Netizens comments came fast and furious and said CID should do something more useful such as catching real criminals, robbers, crooks rather than obey PM Lee to fix Ridzuan Abdullah.

That's cowardly.

5) Benny Lim

Former ISD Director of Operation Spectrum and present MND Perm Sec was tasked to look into the AIM issue after WP filed a complaint to MND.

At the end of the investigations, Benny Lim boldly declared that there was no loss of public money and that it was perfectly legal and acceptable for Aljunied PAP Town Council to sell it to AIM.

The findings drew incense and short of admonishing them, Benny Lim protected AIM's founder, former PAP member Chandra Das.

4) Koh Lin Net

MDA CEO Ms Koh ired all netizens when she had the balls to declare that the Youth PAP political video doesn't infringe on law and said it's not a political video.

It's a classic example of shifting the football goalpost so that opposition politicians can't have a level playing field against PAP.

One netizen summed it up aptly, "A panda is always a panda. If you want to call a panda a zebra, you are just making a fool out of yourself"

3) Peter Lim

Former SCDF chief Peter Lim said that he offered Angie Pang 'out of pity' for her when he defended himself over his graft case. Netizens laughed, "You need to pity a woman to let her suck your dick?"

He also said in his statement that he "directly asked her if she wanted to have sex with me" on the night of the oral-sex act.

But, in his court testimony, he said Ms Pang was the one who initiated the act.

Lim explained in court yesterday that he could not recall if he asked her for sex.

His flop-flopping earned him a jail term for his cowardly act.

2) Chan Sek Keong

In the 1997 Cheng San GRC Elections, Chan had the audacity to declare that it is not an offence for PM Lee, Goh Chok Tong and Tony Tan to stand in the vicinity of the polling booth as they are in the circle of the balloting boxes and not within 200m radius.

Coming from the words of a legally trained person like Chan Sek Keong, it is insulting to any voters but Chan had to follow PAP's orders or else, he can easily lose his job or go into early retirement.

1) Ngiam Tong Dow

Intiially, many netizens applauded him for having the guts to stand out and challenge PM Lee on his salaries and the dominance of PAP in Parliament. In a candid interview with Singapore Medical Association, the long time veteran of civil service Ngiam spoke out that Singapore is still lagging behind in productivity and PAP only knows by scaling up with foreigners and not skill up.

In a weeks time, Ngiam suddenly retracted his statements and in a press report, he withdrew that his views are myopic and said that PAP is capable of having a robust debate without the presence of a strong opposition.

Netizens have said that PM Lee could have threatened Ngiam of his pension or his children's future so Ngiam had to do a 180 degrees about-turn.

For this sudden short turnaround, Ngiam deserves a full mention in the Hall of Shame of Cowardly Civil Servants.
