The LTA announced today that the entry fee for foreign-registered cars will be increasing from $20 a day to $35 a day starting from August 1st.

The permit fee for foreign-registered goods vehicles will be increased from $10 a month to $40 a month.

The changes will only affect foreign-registered cards and does not apply to buses, and taxis. Fees for foreign-registered motorcycles will remain the same at $4 a day.

The fees will apply on weekdays between 2am and 5pm. However, during June and December school holidays in Singapore, the fees will only be charged between 2am and 12pm.

There will be no changes for cars entering outside of these times and there will be no entry permit fee. But if vehicles enter Singapore more than 10 days a year for free, they will need to pay.

LTA explained that the changes were made to ensure that the cost of owning a foreign-registered vehicle is just as expensive as owning a Singapore-registered vehicle.

As COE prices remain high for Singapore cars, it is only fair that prices are also increased for foreign-registered cars.

It is good that the LTA is making these changes to ensure that congestion in Singapore caused by foreign vehicles is also managed well.
