A midst the storm that caused by Roy, I am starting to get irritated by him and his blind supporters. Let me make this clear, I am definitely not a PAP supporter, for they shatter my dreams of owning a car by age of 25, and many other dreams they can be easily fulfilled elsewhere, much harder to be fulfilled here in Singapore. But, as much as I see a changed needed in our government, I am totally disgusted by the way Roy is doing it. You make "points" that are invalid, accusing the PM of corruption without evidence. And when trouble brews, lawyer's letters received, you start a crowd-funding and make your actions seem like you are acting on behalf of all Singaporeans. The truth is, you don't. What tickles me further is your move to join politics.
The first thing I would do should you become a governing member (in a never-going-to-happen situation), is to jet-pack out of this place. You expect to be a politician when you do things without considering the consequences. AND, for those supporters that think he is brave and is well-prepared, ask yourself - DID HE PREPARE FOR ALL THE POSSIBLE LEGAL FEES THAT MAY BE INCURRED. If there is any change his actions will have, it will be only fatten wallets for those at the receiving ends, and that our government will be more convinced that Singaporeans are too rich and have nothing better to do. The verdict of the court case, be it legally, politically or logically, will be that the PM wins, and that people that fork out money will be whining that its because the law sides the PM. But the truth is, its because that fool made an accusation without evidence. Its just like when kids quarrel in a DOTA/LOL game where there start hurling insults "you are a dog", its all baseless. I will be more disturbed if Roy wins the case.
My second part in this post will be towards Roy's blind supporters, or even people blaming everything on the government. Not everyone wearing a cape is superman/batman. Likewise, not everyone that speaks up against the government should be someone you must support strongly. In the comments section among many of Roy's-related posts, many of you are saying "its our money we can donate to Roy all we want" etc etc. You are making yourself sound so rich, who would bother to hear your complaints about hardships living in Singapore?
In almost every TRS posted article you can see comments directing against the government. One example is "CPF MYTH BUSTING: THE CHEE KOH PEK WHO CAN'T MANAGE HIS MONEY". Yes, its your money, you should be granted the rights to spend it any way you want. Then when you finish spending, blame the government again right. Also, before you start blaming the government for the minority individual cases of old people working to death, ask yourselves first, when was the last time you made a donation to them. Some can spare thousands sponsoring Roy in a hopeless lawsuit, but only shifts the blame to the government when some old man/lady dies during work, instead of helping them. Lastly, if you really want to make a change, cast a right vote for the next election, and not support a monkey just because you hate the fox.
The last part will be directed towards the government. Is that multi-million pay to keep your officials from corruption? Ain't politicians supposed to be selected based on moral integrity, leadership and etc etc. If they are likely to succumb towards temptations, they are not real politicians. Wiping their drooling mouth with cash ain't going to stop their drooling. You can live a luxurious life now, but your name will be spat on when you pass on. José Mujica can live with $1250 (whichever currency that is, its still little), I don't see how our ministers need millions a year. Also, it is not a shameful thing to reverse fail policies you have made, being a leader that is willing to admit his mistakes is much more respectable then a money-grubbing one. Cars is a necessity to some, no matter how you increase the price or its COE it will still be a necessity. As far as I can understand, the COE is not helping much in the traffic issues but instead causing stress to prices of everything (It further fuels me that our COE alone can buy a Porsche Boxster in some other countries - source from wikipedia) . Of course, there are many other policies that needs to be reviewed. Lastly, stop trying to hold power by recruiting "your own people" into the parliament, regardless of their capabilities.
One example is TPL in the 2011 GE, where she suggested there is no policy she thinks needs a change, and TCH speaking up for her saying she needs time and etc. Anyone can be a politician if Singapore doesn't need a change, all we need to do is sit there and collect our multi-million pay every year. And, a toddler can also be a politician, all he needs is some time to learn. With regards to the CPF issue, stop increasing the minimum age. Even if the average lifespan is increasing, there is no need to increase the minimum age at a same pace. If you are a politician, I believe you are literate enough to understand the meaning of the word AVERAGE, unless you still "need some time to learn". Not everyone can live pass that "average lifespan" and don't create tragedies by making them work to death. Also, stop comparing Singapore with other less fortunate countries. If the duty of the government is to show how fortunate his country is as compared to others, anyone can be the government because there's always less fortunate countries to compare with.
There is more points in my mind but I believe this is lengthy enough for thought. "Nameless" maybe because I am not as "brave"/foolish as Roy, but definitely because I do not have money for legal fees and do not want to be a beggar.
Nameless
