As a Prime Minister in a quasi-authoritarian regime with the Mass Media under his thumb, Lee Hsien Loong can opt to rebut Roy Ngerng in public space with full and positive coverage guaranteed by his lapdogs.
Yet he chose to take Roy to court and even rejected the latter's offer of $5000 compensation as "derisory". Why?
We can't think of any plausible reason except that:
1. He is seeking revenge and want to exact maximum pain on Roy for daring to belittle him, in the process using this to caution other vocal critics.
2. He wants more money. Given his family's vast wealth, $5,000 is like loose change and hence an insult.
Now what does this tell us about Lee Hsien Loong?
Vindictive?
Greedy?
Imperious?
We leave it to the people of Singapore to judge.
