12 May Monday was a perfect day for many train commuters.
As 13 May Tues was a Vesak Day, many people chose to take leave or MC to enjoy their long weekend.
When I first boarded the train at 9am, I was immediately taken aback by the sight I saw. Empty train carriages and free space for me to walk through.
Many of us would love to have that kind of personal space without the squeeze. But alas, PAP insists that in order to have high GDP growth (which they peg their bonuses to), we need to squeeze more foreigners to 6.9 million to grow our economy. As a result, Josephine Teo wants to stagger our working hours by giving more free train rides during the early morning hours.
We disagree with that. We would like to have a slower GDP growth so that we can enjoy the simplest things that we enjoy doing such as taking slow walks to our offices and having that nice coffee without the morning rush.
I am pleased to let all TRS readers know that there is a special limited edition "Perfect Population for me is 4 Million" T-shirt (free) that you can wear to voice your stand.
I would prefer the people who wants this T-shirt, please wear it every morning when you go to work, and cover it over your business attire. Only take it off when you arrive at your workplace.
You should be able to wear this protest T-shirt if you are travelling trans-island from West to East. So if you stay in the east and work in the east, please do not order this T-shirt.
Send your address to ignatiustcj@hotmail.com and include your mailing address and your shirt will be posted to you. (Large size)
And if you happen to spot another train commuter wearing this same T-shirt design, please do not say "Hello" as it is considered "unlawful assembly" Click on http://geraldgiam.sg/2009/04/1-person-constitutes-an-assembly-its-an-abuse-of-the-word-wp-chairman/
Until we form a coalition government, most of us can only protest silently.
