Dear The Real Singapore,
I refer to the article: "YAHOO JOURNALISTS SPREADING FALSE INFORMATION ABOUT TRS SUPPORTING PROTEST AGAINST PIDCS".
I see that these hypocrites that pretend to be neutral are targetting your website already. It is good to see that you are rebutting them and owning them in the face because I remember this Kristen Han used to criticize your website for spreading unfounded rumours and yet they are doing the same thing themselves. They should feel ashamed of themselves.
Anyway, they are only regular writers for Yahoo! Singapore and are not full time employees of Yahoo!. I think after this incident Yahoo! Singapore will be distancing themselves from these people and will not publish their content as often already.
I want to get back to my point. Why Singaporeans can have Singapore Day overseas but Foreigners can't have their own national day celebration in Singapore. YOU READERS WILL NOW BE SAYING OH LOOK WHO IS THE HYPOCRITE NOW!?!
Wait Wait guys...let me explain myself.
First of all, let us focus on a few countries in order to make my point clearer for your readers. Singapore population is 5.3 million. Around half of them is made up of Foreigners. If every nationality will be allowed to have their own celebration in Singapore, then there will be 1 million PRCs celebrating China's National Day in Singapore. If you have 1 million PRCs rushing to a certain location in Singapore, how chaotic do you think that will be? How will Singaporeans feel if these national day events is more grand than our own Singapore national day? Where is our own sense of pride if you see foreigners waving their own country flag and shouting their own national day songs and chant all over the country. 1 million PRCs doing that, just think about it! The same thing applies to the the few hundred thousands Pinoy and Indian Nationals living in Singapore.
Meanwhile on the other hand, Singaporeans celebrating Singapore Day in London, Sydney or New York. 4,000 Singaporeans gathering at a big field. Gathering in a country that is not filled with overcrowding problems. The locals living in London Sydney or New York might be used to overcrowding similar to Singapore but when they can't handle the stress they can always move to somewhere else in the country. In fact, most people live in New York, London or Sydney only because of work. Their families are usually living in other parts of America, Australia or UK. Do you think 4,000 Singaporeans gathering in a field is going to cause much chaos?
In addition to that, the percentage of foreigners living in Australia, UK and America is only 10-20% and their country is so freaking big compared to us Singapore...meanwhile almost half of the population in Singapore is made up of Foreigners not including the PRs living here which most of them do not even regard Singapore as their home and have no plans in taking up Singapore citizen in the future at all. We Singaporeans are already the minority already of course there are xenophobic among many Singaporeans because we are afraid of losing our country to others while most of us are tightly clinging on to our disappearing culture and heritage.
Which brings me to my last point which also makes my blood boil after hearing the comments made by Minister Tan Chuan Jin and our dear Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
Lee Hsien Loong call us Singaporeans that commented on the Pinoy Independent Day FB page a disgrace to Singapore!?!
A Prime Minister calling us patriotic Singaporeans a disgrace to our own country!
Do you know this might be the first case of a Prime Minister of the country insulting their own patriotic people? Ok fine, I would be totally understanding if the PM shut his mouth and not comment anything over this issue because if he side with us Singaporeans it might make the country seems really Xenophobic. But to come out and insult your own people! REALLY!?!
Can't he be more understanding that not everyone went through a Oxford Education career or a easy life laid in front for them like him? Not everyone can express themselves in language equally as they recieve a different education and environment. Some of these "Disgraceful Singaporeans" are just trying to express their frustration with their overcrowding unhappiness.
He is also another hypocrite. Yes I am saying our Prime Minister is a big fat HYPOCRITE.
I quote what he said below:
We must show that we are generous of spirit and welcome visitors into our midst, even as we manage the foreign population here. Otherwise we will lower our standing in the eyes of the world, and have every reason to be ashamed of ourselves. – LHL
LOWER OUR STANDING IN THE EYES OF THE WORLD?!?! REALLY!?!?!
You can go blabbing to Financial Times about not caring if Singapore is ranked #150+ in the World Media Freedom Index even though it just shows what kind of propaganda tool our media is and now you are telling us Singaporeans to behave ourselves IN THE EYES OF THE WORLD!?!?!
Are you freaking kidding me!?!?
Anyway, I think I will stop for now. My blood is really boiling until evaporate already.
Btw, I am interested in joining your TRS team and maybe I can start off with moderating Facebook page? Do let me know okay?
Thanks a lot and keep up the good work TRS.
Sincerely,
Jackson Tan
