From gaining more profits of $7,000 daily, fine another organiser $1,000 daily, refusing to ensure safety of town council, to neglecting shop-keepers who are working hard for a living. A summary is found at the bottom of this article as well.
The issue of legal action being taken on AHPETC comes into the spotlight again.
What many are unaware of, however, is that this is because AHPETC refused to apply for health permits to protect the health of its residents, and also refused to ensure there are no safety hazards by refusing to apply for a fire permit.
AHPETC also refused to get a consensus from nearby permanent shops' shopkeepers to agree to this trade fair held in the vicinity of their shops, by refusing to apply for a license.
Separately, the trade fair's stall holders' particulars are also thus not recorded, which should be, for safety reasons.
To escape from the responsibility of ensuring waste are properly disposed, to escape the responsibility of health and safety of Singaporeans, to escape from the responsibility of taking into consideration the nearby permanent shopkeepers, they refused to apply for a license.
These were after several reminders.
Making things worse, AHPETC had also gone against the law by taking part in commercial activities to earn money for themselves - in this case organise trade fairs to take in more profits. Trade fairs are supposed to be organised by organisers.
AHPETC is the first town council who dared to take part in commercial activities to earn money, which is against the law.
AHPETC previously collects $5,000 daily from stallholders. By breaking the law and organising the trade fair themselves, they collect $12,000 daily from stallholders. (http://on.fb.me/1lf01cx)
Take a look at this document, mostly on the first page, as to why a license is needed - http://bit.ly/1eGIeMH
In a separate issue, AHPETC had also issued 3 notices of offences to an organiser of another trade fair, for exceeding the space by 1 metre. AHPETC fined them $1,000 daily.
☆ A summary of why legal action needs to be taken against AHPETC ☆
• Refused to ensure health of residents
• Refused to ensure safety of residents (Ensure no safety hazards)
• Refused to ensure waste properly disposed
• Refused to take into consideration nearby permanent shops' shopkeepers, of which most are Singaporeans earning for a living, by getting a consensus from them (Trade fair is held in vicinity of their shops, could affect their business)
• Resulted in trade fair's stall-holders particulars not recorded for safety purposes (What if people get cheated, and stall-holders escape scot-free?)
• Took part in commercial activities by organising a trade fair, which is against the law. Town councils are not allowed to organise them.
• Profited extra $7,000 daily from stall holders by organising trade fair directly
• [On a separate incident] Issued 3 notices of offences, fine $1,000 daily to organiser of another trade fair.
