Why Every Singaporean Must Pay Attention to the Upcoming NEA-WP Court Trial in June

On the surface, it may just be a small issue between NEA and WP. However, on many facets, this will be a significant watershed event for all Singapore citizens to watch.

NEA will probably be sending their big gun pro-PAP lawyers from Allen Gledhill, Drew Napier or Lee and Lee to fight WP and WP will probably send out Sylvia Lim as their defence. It's something like David vs Goliath except that NEA will probably be using our money to fight WP.

PAP has used every tool to fix political dissent. From SID, to ISD, to Police, to Supreme Court Judiciary. PAP has successfully sued JB Jeyaretnam, Chee Soon Juan, Tang Liang Hong for defamation and used ISD, SID to fix others in Operation Spectrum.

Now, PAP has resorted to using the judiciary process to fix ordinary citizens such as Han Hui Hui, Demoncratic Leslie Chew and Yawning Bread Alex Au.

On the other hand, PAP has also used the judiciary process to their own advantage such as the Woffles Wu case or the Chan Sek Keong stunt during the Cheng San GRC 1997 Elections.

I spoke to some lawyers and sometimes, it's been known to happen that Judges are only human and may rule based on their heart and not their head. Sometimes, because of one small technicality, Judges may not see the totality of the whole circumstances and base their verdict on the technicality.

Previously, a TRS article "Why Philippines Remains a Poor Country" received many likes.
It resonates with the upcoming WP-NEA trial. In the article, the author said, "When a society is governed by laws that are exploitative and arbitrary, it doesn't matter how hardworking or smart the people are. People will know that honesty and hard work doesn't pay and society will go downhill from there onwards..... for a society to flourish, it must reward hard work, honesty and laws that are fair and just and non-exploitative".

WP-NEA trial may just be a small issue but I urge every Singaporean to pay attention.

So far, in the eyes of the public, many Singaporeans still fume over the AIM saga despite PAP's insistence that there was no loss of public money. Many Singaporeans still fume over the injustice of the hawkers spring cleaning saga despite NEA's claim that WP is in the wrong.

If the Judge in the WP-NEA trial were to side with NEA, many Singaporeans may choose to cast more sympathy votes to WP.

But on the bigger picture, it may be the end of Singapore with the apt title, "Why Singapore Has Fallen to be a Poor Country" due to its cowboy justice and rules that favour PAP and the Rich only.
