Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Grace Fu, last week said that they are currently taking suggestions from Singaporeans on what they should include in a gift pack for Golden Jubilee babies.

The initiative is run by the National Population and Talent Division and is meant to be a small token for babies born on Singapore's 50th anniversary.

There is a public feedback campaign running and Singaporeans are encouraged to give suggestions to the NPTD on what should be included in the gift pack.

However, this has come under fire as some netizens pointed out that that government is only consulting the public when it comes to redundant and inconsequential things.

Where was the public feedback and consultation when the population white paper was being pushed through parliament?

At that time, they didn't even need to call for the public to give feedback, there was a huge initiative on the ground to show that it was not acceptable and thousands of Singaporeans showed up for one of the first ever protests seen in recent years.

However, all the noise was ignored and the public discontent simply swept under the carpet.

Now, when it's something with no great impact on our country, they call on everyone to give feedback as if to trick Singaporeans into thinking that they are being listened to and being treated as an active part of the country.
