'PAP supporter' and the nonsensical rebuttal

I refer to “PAP supporter: My rebuttal to Roy Ngerng’s misleading article”.

After seeing more people writing letters to the press and signing their real names, Lee Kuan Yew was pleased and said that it was a good sign .  I believe LKY would have been annoyed at this nameless PAP supporter (PS for short) who seemed ashamed to be associated with the PAP.  (by the way, when my kids say they are going to PS, it means ‘pung sai’)

PS says if Roy feels “that CPF is cheating him of his money and is a tax, then may he keep it there and never take out a cent for himself.”  PS seems likely from a very wealthy family and CPF savings is loose change to him but he should not assume everyone is as fortunate.  Like all PAP politicians, PS is divorced from ordinary Singaporeans’ reality.

Without the use of our CPF savings, few can really afford to buy a flat.  That is just how ridiculously-expensive housing is in Singapore.

He says that “at the enviable New Zealand interest rate of 14%, your mortgage amount doubles in 5 years”.  This is factually incorrect as on average, Kiwi rates are between 6% to 8%.

PS even takes issue with Roy’s statement “your flat is worthless at the end of the lease”.  This everyone already knows except poor PS.  What is there really to take issue with when Minister Khaw already said so in parliament

Not unlike the PAP with its motherhood statements, PS tries to lecture Singaporeans on how wealth (HDB flat) could be passed on to the next generation.  If that was indeed the case, the HDB should not be building more smaller units and the government should not be encouraging elderly Singaporeans to downgrade due to insufficient retirement funds.  There would also be no need for banks to offer reverse mortgage.

PS says “CPF money has always been our own money.  It is ultimately yours to use”.  But many also kick the bucket before the regular meagre payouts from the Minimum Sum scheme kicks in.  How is it ultimately ours to use?  In the next life can use meh?

Similar to Lim Swee Say who claims he receives his CPF statement every month, (don’t watch this video if you think it’ll spoil your day) PS claims CPF money has always been our money despite the fact that all policies concerning OUR money has been decided by the PAP with ZERO consultation with stakeholders.

It can be confirmed that PS is indeed a PAP supporter as most TRS readers would likely be unable to make any sense of what he has written.
