Price of gas cylinder increased from $36 in 2013 to $39 in 2014

I was cooking today as per normal.
Halfway through, it ran outta gas, that’s also normal.
Not daily of course.

Back in 2012 and 2013, when we bought gas, it was $36.
Today, it’s $39!

I was wondering why, then I chanced upon this:

An increased in $3 is an increase of about 8.3%
It’s not as high as 80% definitely.

Yet it actually cost $20 back in 2012?
Really? Cause we paid $36 in 2012.

Of course, to us $39 spent is way cheaper than when we were using SP PowerGrid PowerGas or City Gas.

And a thought came into my mind perhaps we should tax the petrol of people who drive private cars more in order to subsidise the gas usage of lower income family who needs to cook at home as they can’t afford three meals in a hawker centre, food court or restaurant?

Think about it, even third world countries have government subsidising their gas cylinder.

How about Singapore?
