Is HDB dishonest or incompetent?

I notice that new HDB flats are designed and built with “household shelter” or what is commonly called a bomb shelter. But private houses or condos are not designed and built with such shelters.

Thus may I know why do we need such a shelter which may jack up the price of the flat and serve no purpose except inconvenience the flat dwellers?

Can we really survive in the bomb shelter when the flats are being bombed? Did HDB do a feasibility study before they decided to build one? Or did they merely build one because they want to “wayang” to the world that we also have a bomb shelter in every flat in SG?

Can the Colombo, MIT, Harvard or dogshit scholars answer me? How practical is the bomb shelter? Are the bomb shelters designed that if the whole building collapses, the bomb shelters would still remain standing?

And if they are really effective, why are private developments not incorporating these into their designs? Does the PM have a big bomb shelter in his house? Do we have a big bomb shelter in the Istana?

To make things worse for flat dwellers is that we cannot hack the walls, make modifications to shelter, except using it as an expensive store room.

Is HDB in collusion with other govt agencies? Putting in so much restrictions on what the “flat owners” can do or cannot do, and charge high prices for the flats. Are these necessary?

We face

  • High leases (high prices for the flats)
  • Hugh inconveniences (a lot of restrictions on the flats)
  • Property tax although we are only leasing the flats
  • Huge costs in loans (due to loan restrictions – why can’t they charge us a low rate since it is public housing?)
  • Long waiting time to buy a house and move into the house due to balloting scheme
  • Lack of choices in where we want to stay (We can only stay where they decide to build the flats. If they only build flats at Punggol or Pulau Ubin, you can only buy flats there due to lack of supply.)
  • Family nucleus scheme where singles are disadvantaged.
  • SGP/PR scheme on housing grant and additional housing grant. Who needs this if the flats are priced on a cost recovery basis?
  • Even if we want to “buy” a secondhand flat, we still face the ethnic quota and high COV and valuation.

All these problems are caused by HDB or indirectly the current govt’s policies. Since they say they are the elite, and we pay them millions, why are we still having these dogshit problems?

Is HDB dishonest or are they just incompetent?

And also stop giving us grants and bursaries kind of incentives which are just gimmicks. We don’t owe the govt a single cent or favour. Stop using our money as your money.

We don’t need a govt full of “elites”. What we need are just honest, loyal and compassionate people who really want to contribute and help the citizens and the country.

If we need elites, we can easily put up an advertisement to the whole world, asking the smartest people to come and we pay them top dollar to be our ministers and PM. I think they will do a better job at a cheaper rate. Cheaper, Faster and Better.

So don’t take your current situation or position for granted. You should be honored that you are given a chance to serve. As we can give you what you have today, we can also take it away.
