Dear TRS,
I am very angry with recruitment company Randstad, as a 'technical glitch' on their part made me lose my job and they aren't going to do anything about it!
I had been applying for a new job and only planned to quit my current job once I secured a new job as I know the job market is tough and I can't really afford to be jobless for too long.
On Feb 21st, I received this email from Randstad Sourceright shortly after I had done an interview at Pall on the 13th of Feb:
Dear Karthigayan,

On 26 Feb 2014 I was informed by Randstad's Representative one: Venkat S/O Subramaniam that I had not been offered the position and that the compnay - Pall - was in the midst of offering the position to someone else.
This comes as a bit of a shock to me as the previous email said that I had already been appointed to the position. The excuse given by Venkat, was that this was a "technical glitch" and that it should not have occurred.
The worst part is that this email actually caused me to approach my current director and inform him that I will be resigning. It is also amusing that the company takes no responsibility for its actions and has explained it to me via mobile as a "technical glitch".
I assume that this happens to everyone. I have shared the news of my new job with my family and everyone celebrates this news.
I am a Singaporean - born and bred- my place of origin is KK Hospital.
Is this what we are reduced to? Nothing more than "technical glitches"? Is there no restitution aside from the casual: "oh, I'm sorry, it was a technical glitch"?.
I think these so called "employment agencies" should be held to account.
I sincerely welcome any insight, both legal and personal.
Thank you.
