When I saw this article, I couldn’t ignore it, my anger simply just refuse to allow me to be silence, “Tong Beh Tiou”

When Tan Jun Yuan rented a hawker stall, his sole intention was to commercialize it and enterprise his business. He plans to run it in a month to understand first hand on things should be done, then employ staffs, follow through, get another hawkers stall and repeats the entire process until he has a chain. He plans to put his First Class Honor in to good use. He dreams of becoming the next McDonald of Asia. Well good on you and screw you. And trust me when I say I am being extremely polite.

It is because people like Tan Jun Yuan, Singapore has so many problems that just can’t be put to words by everyday ordinary people. It is people like him that creates problem that should not have exist. It is people like him that are in a great disillusion which cloud his purpose. It is people like him that are running our government today.

First, let me explain to Tan Jun Yuan what is the different between a restaurant and a hawker. The different between a Restaurant and a Hawker, is that hawker is an essential and a restaurant is a necessity. Restaurants serve those who afford the chef’s creation and the politely trained servers are the reason we pay service charge or tips. Restaurants have absolutely no restriction whatsoever on how they do their business. No one can tell a restaurant; hey you can’t put out a price tag above x amount. Restaurant can charge their patron for every little thing to maximize profit from rooms to serviettes and toothpick to music. Restaurant will also pay the most expensive rent in any given location. So then we also have expensive restaurants with famous chef or cheap restaurant by god knows who. Some decent restaurant would offer “no hike but no nuts” policy (https://www.facebook.com/goodbeersg). But still all about maximizing profit.

Hawkers on the other hand are the basis food source of our population, our most basic needs. It is because of these needs, hawkers were created and shape to today’s system where they enjoy very cheap rents by dollars per square foot, controlled price, subsidies, unable to speculated and unavailable to be dominated by corporations. Hence, hawker stall are expected to run by a small family or solely. Some may put it, the poor for the poor. So when one decides to run a hawker stall, they know they’ll have to sell it cheap, hard work and no time to enterprise it. So long they are making a decent income by their family business, they are happy.

When Tan Jun Yuan finds 2 local staffs to run with a $3000 salary each not including CPF is just not profitable for him to be enterprising, it didn’t occur to him that it was not meant for a hawker stall to make that kind of profit. He is in fact already selling his food more than what it should been for 5 months. In order to get around this natural phenomenal, our dear Tan Jun Yuan wants to justified foreign workers for hawker stall so he can continue to exploit. You can spot the similarity on how MRT wants better income for their top management so they threw in a price hike while ignoring their duty and purpose. That is how arrogant one can be.

If Singapore government allows hawker stall to employ foreigners, Singapore will be like Malaysia. What is happening in Malaysia now, 80% hawker stalls in the country are run by syndicates of Malaysian businessman and women. All stalls are runs by foreign workers, hardly you see the present of the local boss. Because of the rent, levy and wages, food price in Malaysia is already beyond the means of minimum wages. You can’t find a simple meal for less than RM6. A glass of Milo ice would cost no less than RM3.50, making coffee shop syndicate the worst of the lot. Food and drinks are served with poor quality, mostly are dirty and unpleasantly. Now you know why Malaysian never call their food stall a hawker stall. Because of that, the ordinary populations of Malaysian are suffering in despair without knowing the true cause of their death, both economically and health. Natively they though corruption was the main reason their country is sick, for little did they realize their population is already dying young mostly due to health. Luckily in Singapore we have MOH to marshal Phua Chu Kang's recipe.

Tan Jun Yuan however wants to profit our everyday needs to the extend he welcome foreigner workers with open arms in to Singapore to take over jobs that local can perform but rejected by the authorities that still possess a reasonable sense of duty to the public. He reason for more profit than he deserved by blacken Singaporean for wanting high salary or being choosy. For money, he is willing to invite destruction to his country. For money, he is willing to suppress Singaporean for job and wages.  It is because of his mentality, Singaporean is losing jobs. It is because of his mentality, Singapore have to pay for expensive food from essential source. It is because of his mentality that Singaporean are being exploited every single day when our basis essential are being commercialize, from electricity to water, telecommunication, vehicles, housing and even medical. All of that which we need just to wake up next day.

Tan Jun Yuan, if you are so entrepreneur go open a bloody restaurant. From there you can enterprise it, franchise it, profit it or wind it, we don’t give a damn. But when you try to take an advantage of a system that for so many years that allows cheap food staples available to the general public, I despite you, and when you whine why foreign workers are not available for you I jump out and bloody curse you. Just like how I curse MRT, I curse Singtel, I curse SBS, I curse PUB, I curse every single individual, corporate or government that commercializes our basis needs that we need to survive. They profit from us, they seize our every breath each time they ridicule a reason for a hike.

I hope your business fail, shame on you. Even more shame on The Independent for glorifying your deeds like how mainstream media glorify PAP and you dare call a balance view? A publication that glorify commercialize of everyday people’s basic needs is a devil in the making. Your media has no different between mainstream media, in terms of honor, diligent and philosophy. Instead of reasoning with Tan Jun Yuan about his wrongful ways your publication provides propaganda to the readers by encourage more innovative ideas on how to commercialize and exploit Singaporean’s most basic need foods, water and housing. Your publication shames me so much that I rather sent my comments about you through another publication with more dignity.

Leaving my last 2 advices for Mr. Tan, F U.
